I've never played in a VP tourney, but the comments about slot tournaments
are correct. At least in the dozen or so I've played in, the "tournament mode"
basically eliminated blanks on the reels from landing on the payline. On
each spin, each reel ended up with a symbol, (bar, red 7, etc.) on the payline.
Just eliminating the blanks increases the number of paying spins dramatically,
and I suspect, with a minimal change to the workings of the machine.
