Here's a copy of a trip report I sent out to my Vegas buddies:
Another profitable trip to sin city. Flew in late Wednesday night,
out early this morning. Stayed at Sunset Station on a comp that also
included $50 free slot play.
Damn was it hot! I took a short walk outside on Friday afternoon when
it was 108. I almost collapsed.
Thursday was pretty unremarkable, gambling-wise.
On Friday, things began to pick up. I didn't hit any royals, but the
50-cent VP was good for a few $1,000 Aces w/kicker hands. So I
actually finished up $1,300-$1,400 for the day. That was after being
down over $1,000.
On Saturday, I decided to go over to Green Valley Ranch, transported
in a GMC Denali by one of the Sunset bellmen. Only 10 minutes away
from Sunset.
Played A TON of VP at GVR, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. And good thing I
did!
Played mostly those 10-6 DDB machines right outside the buffet. I hit
4 Aces w/kicker for $1,000 (50-cent) and then things *really* started
getting crazy. On the same machine 40 minutes later, I got AK of
diamonds and drew the QJT for the royal: $2,000 jackpot. And on the
VERY NEXT HAND, I got 4 sevens for $125. This was out of freakin'
control. Naturally, I pressed my bet to the dollar level.
About 40 minutes after that, I moved two machines over and hit the
Aces w/kicker again, but this time for $2,000 (because I was playing
dollars). The people around me were having me touch their machines
for good luck. Nobody could believe it.
I left Green Valley with a handy profit of $5,000 for 9 hours' work.
DAMN! On the down side, more tax documents to fileĀ
But that wasn't the end of it. Twenty minutes after arrival back at
Sunset, I hit a progressive 4 Aces w/kicker for $2,019. Then from
about 8 p.m. until 3 a.m. I managed to give back some $2,000 of my
profit, actually stepping up to the $2 machines ($10 per hand) --
first time I'd ever done that. Man, did that money disappear fast!
BTW, I now have enough points on my card (300,000) to buy buffets for
100 people.
In the end, cleared $5,300 in profit. So here's the tally from my
last 5 trips to Vegas:
March 27-29 at Main St.: Lost $1,300.
April 9-11 at Sunset: Won $9,400.
April 29-May 1 at Bally's with you guys: Won $1,000.
May 6-8 at Sunset: Lost $2,500.
June 13-17 at Sunset: Won $5,300.
Total for 5 trips this year: Won $12,900
Of course, subtract about $1,400 in airfare. So maybe $11,500 in
reality. Not bad!

wait, that's 3 months away!!!
