The Ruhl Casino (under the Hotel Meridian) is about all that there
is in Nice. Joker Wild is the game of choice. Pay tables are not
so good. (Lousy in fact)

You might try taking the train to Monte Carlo. Not very expensive
at all. Also, the bus from Nice to Monte Carlo is much more
enjoyable with womderfu; views of the sea. The "main" Casino at
Monte Caro (the famous one) sucks and you have to "pay" to get in.
But there are two casinos accessible, not far from the "famous"
one. Again, the paytables suck.

Finally, there are a couple of Casinos in Cannes (the opposite
direction from Nice as was Monte Carlo). Again, train and bus are
convenient. I preferred the Casino that is "on the beach", beyond
the marina, to the east of the train station (walk toward the beach
from the train station, turn left, and walk about a mile...there are
city buses also). Again, don't even think about good pay tables.

You play with "tokens". No bill acceptance and definitely no TITO.

You have to be an addict to play and want to say that you played
in ...."

Enjoy!

The gambling (vp) in Nice is actually in Monte Carlo,

a short drive away.

There were 2 large casinos in Monte Carlo on my last visit (about 2
years ago). The vp in both was poor, and I did not donate any francs
to them. One casino is in Loews Hotel and the other is across from
the splendid Opera House.

If I might make a suggestion, your time would be much better spent
seeing an Opera or Ballet, while in Monte Carlo, than in trying to
locate any playable vp.

The old Monte Carlo Casino (of which many stories have been written)
is part of the Opera House complex (they require jacket & tie attire
for entrance)and is interesting to see. It is quite beautiful and
elegant, but has strictly European type gambling.

AS a matter of fact, I have been in almost all the casinos in
Europe, and have never found playable vp in any of them. I believe
you will be disappointed in what's available to play, but not at all
disapointed in beautiful Nice and Monte Carlo otherwise.

Bon Voyage, Babe

My wife and I are in Italy ... in Firenze right now. So far I have
not come across any casinos ... in Stresa, PortoFino, Torino or
Firenze anyway. We were in Lucarno, Switzerland briefly ... on Lago
Maggiore, and only later I was told there was a casino there. The
same person told me there is a casino in Venice, but we do not plan
to visit Venice this trip. This woman is a college professor in
Firenze and said she goes to LV for 1 week every year to gamble, and
loves it. In a few weeks we will be in Milan and I will look for
something there, but I do not think I will find anything there
either. Oddly, there seem to be slot machines in some of the train
stations, or they certainly look and act like slot machines.

I get on the internet at a business called the Internet Train in
Firenze, and the response time is just as good, if not better, than
it is on my PC in LV.
