Hello All-

I'm brand new to the group- although many of you many know me from Jim's Vegas Group, where I am one of the moderators.

My questions for the group are:

Is there a consensus whether or not the machines in CA Indian Casinos are on the up and up? Meaning are they paying true to their paytables?

Secondly- does anyone know of any full pay in the San Diego area? I see some better paytables at Barona, where I play live poker quite a bit, but nothing full pay- is there anything fullpay?

I realize this is probably heresy in this group, but I will admit to playing a little .25 DB 9/6 progressive to get my fix and Barona also has a $1 9/7 that I will try, but only on a very limited basis- don't want to throw too much money away.

I don't think there is full pay in California from what I have read
on web sites. As for Indian casinos - in California they are
probably as legit as most of them. I am sure there are some dishonest
indian casinos everywhere but for the most part I believe they are
legit. I think people that are suspicious of Indian casinos probably
lost or saw a scam occur and now distrust all of them..
I read somewhere that states that have alot of Indian casinos watch
more closely because they want the money to stay in the state and
therefore they don't want to hear people screaming about unfair
practices occuring. I also read that if you feel cheated you can
appeal to the Tribal Council and I know most people think that is a
waste of time, but I also read you can appeal to the attorney
general's office of that state. States have granted permission for
the casinos and can suspend operations at any time.
I don't know if any of this is right or exaggerated but its just some
things I have read.

I don't know about San Diego, but I have found some $1 9/6 JOB in
Jackson at the Rancheria, and in Sonora at the Black Oak Casino. At
the quarter level- forget it. I don't worry too much about it being
on the up and up, as I have hit a few royals, and I am actually ahead
at these places. I wish I could say the same about Las Vegas.

In addition to generally bad video poker pay tables, some states have mandated high holds at reservation casinos. That requires biased machines in most cases. On jackpot disputes, state AG's can step in for sanity/fairness opinions, but the final decision is always up to the tribal council. Regarding the randomness of the machines, since no one can prove a thing the AG won't get involved. My basic problem is that there is no verifiable entity on the assurance of non-biased machines other than what the tribal gaming regulators say on radio talk shows, and at least here in Arizona they give out no details at all. And no state to my knowledge has ever answered the question on how they can say their machines are random, yet they have a certain hold.

Since CA has no laws covering gaming in indian casinos, they can
legally cheat if they want to...in fact there was an article in the
Wall Street Journal a couple of years ago in which a lawyer for the
CA Indian Gaming Assn admitted that some Ca casinos were using Non-
random VP machines...I saw some of them at the Pechanga Casino in
Temecula, they were made in Korea. (they are gone now)
There still may be some non-random machines...BEWARE!!
The indians say they don't need regulation, they are self-
regulating!!!...that's a huge lie...we need regulation like Nevada's
Gaming Commission.
