I keep hearing conflicting stories about Louisiana Downs having or not having any Video Poker-- Is it true that there are NO vp machines at Louisiana Downs?
VP at Louisiana Downs
There are no VP machines at Louisiana Downs due to state law. They were allowed a grace period after they got slot machines at the tracks which allowed them to have VP machines. A couple of years ago, they were removed due to state law. The law was set up that way to appease the existing truck stops which have VP machines. When the tracks lobbied to get slots, the truck stops counter lobbied and had inserted in the law that the tracks could not have Video Poker machines. If you go to the Louisianna State Gaming web site, you will see that they keep track of the Video Poker gaming (really meaning the truck stops, not the casino VP gaming) separately. That is why they do not have the machines now, although, for a brief time they did.
