Some hiccup in the State Law used by the locals vendors ? It was mentioned in a past post, but then i really didn't read it that carefully. I guess, for me, if they (VP machine) weren't there, then neither would i be! I do wonder how it has affected their income though? Maybe someone can shed more light on the subject? James & Ann

It is actually Louisanna law. When the race tracks pressed to get
slot machines at the tracks, the truck stop lobby pressed the
legislature to disallow Video Poker machines. If you notice, the
truck stops in La have extensive VP lounges for their truck driver
customers. While their pay schedules are atrocious, the legislature
didn't care and decided to protect their VP business while extending
slot gambling to race tracks.

Thanks to both of you for the explanation of no VP at Louisiana Downs.
We had a really good time at Horseshoe these past 3 days, playing the 50-line and (much
more rarely) the 100-line machines on the bottom level. These 8 machines seem to get
more and more popular every time that we visit Bossier City. I usually go down to play
these machines early in the morning before breakfast. This time, even at 6:00 AM, the
100-liners were occupied (2 of them being played by one person). He and his friend (who
was only playing one of them) even had their three machines put "Out of Service" while the
two of them went to breakfast. I asked the slot technician if this is done often. He said
not often, and they will usually NOT do it when the casino is crowded. I guess "not
crowded" is a relative term, since the 50-liners and 100-liners are almost always
occupied. It seems silly (at least to me) to take 3 of them out of service when there were
other people waiting to play them, even though the rest of the casino is fairly empty in the
mornings. ARGH!

Yeah, that is annoying! He was playing two the Sunday the 17 while we were there. Didn't seem to have a "friend" with him then. He does that a lot. But!? I guess it is something you have to do if you want to play a long time and then get lunch or dinner and come back to play some more. We have arrived to late on a Sunday before and found them all busy, both the 50 and 100 plays. Being that that is what we have been going to the HS for, it's a bummer when you can't play one!
I've done it in the past, put one out of service, because if i didn't i'd never get back on one due to the crowds. Not here though! I think it was the 10/7 Double Bonus quarter at the old Harrah's boat.... long time ago!
Well, bl I agree.
We lost pretty good the 3 & 1/2 hour we played them that Sunday. We will maybe be staying over on the 28 to try to earn Ann enough point to move her up to the Platinum level so she might get a free room in Vegas for our May trip. I have used my Diamond card to get a week at the Paris and only paid for Friday. Plan to use it for my Brother and Ann wants two night there as well, so we'll see? Also got two night free in Laughlin since we will be driving out.
PS, sure wish they hadn't reduced the number of 50 and 100 plays like they did.... last year right?James & Ann

Yep, those were the only two 10/7 quarter DB machines we ever found
in all of S'port/ Bossier. My wife & I used to arrive at around
5:30 or 6:00 am & play them all day. The slot folks were happy to
lock them down for us while we went to eat, then we'd come back and
pound away till we couldn't stand it any longer.
anna_jam, we plan to be at the 'Shoe on the 29th. If you & your
bride are still there, we'll buy the beverages if you'd like to meet
up. You're included too, BL (If you're in the vicinity)!
BTW, we were at the 'Shoe last Thursday and the guy you and BL
mentioned was there on the 100-play. IIRC, he had his friend with
him. He also had the stool next to his machine tilted up against
that machine, so I guess he was still playing them both. I'll take
a closer look next time to see if I've seen him before.
My "better half" and I arrived at the HS on Wednesday afternoon and left about 11:00 am on
Friday. We may actually have even seen one another. LOL.
We were at the 50-liners a lot and the 5-line JOB's ($0.25) one flight up.
I am not sure when our next trip to Bossier City will be. But, we will be at CP in LV towards
the end of April for about 5 days.
