VLT

Can someone please explain in simple terms what at Video Lottery
Terminal is as compared to a regular Slot or Video Poker machine?
What is the difference in how they operate?

In simplest terms, a VLT is essentially an electronic pull tab.

You make your wager and your machine (terminal) then receives a result
for your play from a central server (loss or amount of win). Your
machine then generates a hand/draw that's consistent with that win.

The only VLT's I've been exposed to (WA state) compensate for the fact
that a player might break up a winning hand by providing an additional
bonus feature as part of the game.

The only saving grace to the machines in Washington is that you don't have to know how to play poker. Even if you throw away a dealt winning hand the machine will pay you that amount on the match play card.
