Viva Laughlin Canceled already...after only two episodes.
Gee Bob. Cancelled after only two episodes? Has anything been canceled
quicker? They gave it a primo premiere spot after CSI, but the show was
so bad that could not save the ratings. Gosh, I wanted to bash the show
some more, but I guess this is the end of that.

I remember way way way back a Jackie Gleason show that was cancelled
after one show. The following week he he did a monologue with his "cup"
of whatever.
"You're in the Picture...
In 1961, Gleason began an ill-fated stint as host of a game show called
You're in the Picture. which lasted only one episode, and led to Gleason
offering an on-air apology to his viewers the following week. Committed
to filling a quota of episodes, Gleason renamed the series The Jackie
Gleason Show and turned it into a short-lived talk show."

Fear not, compadre! The show will certainly be released in video,
with at least a few unaired episodes (remember the Aidan Quinn drama
where he played a pill-popping Episcopal priest and kept running
into Jesus? That show is available on DVD!). Maybe we should
organize a release party at the Laughlin outlet mall with Hugh
Jackman at a card table by the Reebok store or the bookstore that
seems to be perpetually going out of business. The U.S.S. Riverside
and Fiesta Queen can fire their water cannons in a salute from the
Colorado. River Palms can make their kiosks give coupons for $.50
off the set.
I'm there.
Drew
Dennis you got me interested in this subject. Yes you are right about
the Jackie Gleason show, but I found there are others that only
lasted one episode. Actually Viva Laughlin is now on the one show
cancellation list, as they were showing it in Australia. The Aussies
seem to recognize a stinker quicker than those here in the USA. They
did not even show the second episode. There was actually one show
that did not make it through the first episode: Australia's
Naughtiest Home Videos. Interesting story on that one! Here is a
list if anyone is interested:

_one_episode
Well, I guess Laughlin got some notoriety out of this, but it is not
what the Chamber of Commerce had in mind.
Drew- If you are taking RSVP's for the video release party, put me in
the regret column. I will be home watching the Australia's Naughtiest
Home Videos rerun.
