Vista and theVP programs

I'm back in the blast furnace called Las Vegas and will make posts on
the subject later but for now I have a technical question for all you
computer literate folks.

I drug my laptop out of storage and am considering installing Vista.
I currently have XP Professional. Is this a good move or not? I'm
concerned about whether the two VP programs I currently have on disc,
Winpoker and Frugal, can be installed on Vista. Plus I would like to
add VPW and Paymars progams while I'm at it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Good luck.

I'm no expert, but everything I have read and heard tells me 3 things.
1. Vista is a resource hog. If you don't have 2 gigs of memory don't install it.
2. It is too new to be reliable.
3. The new improved security features seem to be a major pain.

I would not install a new operating system unless I felt that either my current one couldn't
handle the programs that I want to run or that it offers some features that are must haves.

Lots of luck

Frugal VP works on Vista.

I bought this laptop last November. It came with a free download of VISTA which I have done. I seem to remember had a deadline so I felt I had to install it. I think I have problems with the security features and perhaps another problem or two which may or not be VISTA related.

I would have to agree with Albert. Vista is selling poorly due
to the lack of problems with Windows XP. That is an
over-simplification but if you have no pressing need (don't know
what that could be) then don't upgrade. Especially on a Laptop
which often is limited in the amount of memory you can add. If
you feel like you have to have Vista, then invest in a new Laptop
that comes with it already installed. Get it with the proper
amount of memory, from one of the higher-end manufacturers like
Dell. You can hit the ground running then.
IMHO,
Bill

Thanks, everyone, for the advice on Vista that came in both VPfree
posts and private e-mail.

I think I'm just gonna stick with XP Professional. Good luck.

I had a strange thing happen a couple of hours ago. I had been reading/deleting vpFREE emails:-) Had a conversation with my wife for ten or so minutes while I ignored my laptop. Suddenly it logged off on its own! I resisted panicking and my screen then had messages such as upgrading Windows. It took 20 minutes or, perhaps less and my laptop rebooted on its own. I CAN TELL THAT PERFORMANCE HAS IMPROVED! Wow. My keyboard problem has virtually disappeared, albeit it did happen once while sending another email a few minutes ago. I suspected VISTA problems before, now am virtually certain that was the problem.
