I am getting trojan virus warnings whenever I am on any of the VP board sites.
This has been occurring over the past month ? Are others also getting them ?

I got one when I was on videopoker.com. Luckily Norton took care of it.

I am using McAfee Site advisor, and am getting a clean report on all yahoo groups. I am also using Firefox 3.5.7 and blocking pop-ups and am getting no windows or messages coming up.

I actually GOT a virus on my laptop...either from Yahoo Groups or VideoPoker.com. Of course, it was my mistake, because I was probably closing a window and a stupid pop-up came up and I mistakenly clicked on it when I was clicking out (touchpad tendency to go crazy sometimes)>
Yes, I am getting them also, and to the best of my knowledge only on these type sites. Yesterday I got it on the Detroit site. So far nothing today.
No actual virus is found, but it does not want to let you go.

I got the warning again just a minute ago. I have gotten this same warning several times lately on vpfree. I close everything down and when I check with my software it shows my computer is clean. Just be sure you don't download the security software offered with the warning.

So, the warning you are getting is from an internet browser window and not your anti-virus software window? If so, you are correct in not downloading the virus fixing software that they offer. This is a scam and will infect your computer. If your anti-virus software supports removing dangerous cookies, run that. If not, you might want to get a program like Spybot which is free and will scan your computer for known dangerous adware and remove them.
Everyone needs to make sure their anti-virus software is up to date and active on their computer.

Messages like this (clearly bogus and not from your own internal virus protection software) are best ignored. The safest way to close such windows (in MS Windows) is to right-click on the related system tray item, at the bottom of your screen, and click Close.)
If you want to avoid confusion and/or the risk that you might inadvertently click on the pop-up itself, then enable the pop-up blocker that's an option for most current browser versions. (Look for it in Tools/Options, or click on your browser Help button and search for "pop-up").
With pop-ups blocked, you'll have to manually load pop-ups from trusted websites when prompted (most avoid this these days).
These viruses have nothing to do with any of these sites. Here's my guess, you are running Windows XP and most likely have a variant of the Vundo virus.
Certain virus programs such as Windows Defender can't even remove these. I suggest first off updating Java on your machine (which is how it spreads) then download "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware", there is a free version of it. The newer variants of Vundo actually block some of these anti-virus installations. There are ways around it but it's not fun.

McAffe can't take care of a Vundo trojan. In my opinion, if you're running McAffe, you might as well not be running any virus protection.
The poster before you mentioned using malwarebytes software. He is correct. It took care of the vundo trojan on my machine a few months back. Spybot, or any of the others won't do it.
You and others should take care of this immediately, as it will only get worse.

trend micro offers free complete system scans at:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
click on free tool / cleanup tools on the left of the page...
seemed to take care of the problem as i did the scan yesterday and haven't had the problem today...
........................................................................'
Did the scan say you had any kind of infection that would account for it? I have not had anything last couple of days either, but have not found any malware to remove using: Norton 360, McAfee, PC Tools Malware and Antivirus free, Ad Aware free, ThreatFire free and lastly tonight based on the recommendations on here using Malwarebytes, All have not found anything. Not surprising, because I have not clicked on any links.
Also, last two days no pop up, but had three previously, two of which I am quite sure I was on this web page or in one for sure instance on the Detroit page.
The ironic thing is I had emailed the admin to see if anyone had reported a problem. Then I went to the messages and found out that I was not alone.
If it is not showing up anymore, maybe it got fixed.

I do not remember the name of the virus, but I had it a year or so ago. Norton's did not clean it up, but a free virus software called Avast elimindated it. I now have both running. It sometimes slows the computer down obtaining updates, but I have had not virus invasions since using both.

Thanks for all your replies. I believe that I may have mistakenly downloaded the anti spy system scan offered a while ago but fortunately nothing seems to have crashed.

My computer got infected not from this sigte, but while I left it on one night while at videopoker.com.
It took many hours of trying to fix it myself before I finally cleaned everything up.
Programs that helped:
Hijack this! (the best)
will tell you what is wrong and if you need help trying to figure out what to do I recommend sending your hijack this results to the Geeks to go website and they will help you.
Cyber Defender Internet Security (free version from CNET) has been great at keeping everything out once I got my computer fixed, I would highly recommend it.
I tried a bunch of anti virus and security programs that didn't work, or only helped with fixing certain parts of two viruses. I had one virus called Total Security and I forgot the name of the second one that was related but under a different name. Those Vundo's are a b***** to fix but it can be done on your own. I was able to clean it all up by myself and I'm not a whiz so I'm sure you can too!

I have limited experience playing both. I'm curious about
which this group feels is more difficult to play
profitably.
On the internet there are always concerns about collusion
and how prevalent it is. Also I have to believe a lot of
the survivors of the last few years are the people who play
most profitably, making the competition very stiff.
Poker in casinos seems like it is a bit easier, but there
are still a lot of competent veterans there. Then the rake
of 10%, maximum of $4.00, is a huge factor that is tough to
beat.
Overall I think the odds are long against winning for the
average guy. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
