VIP Requirements in Reno: Coin-In Amounts

I've went through a few different places to get the coin-in requirements...from what I can tell, to be PURE VIP (Complete RFB and event invites)
Atlantis = $60k coin-in yearly
Grand Sierra = $84k coin-in yearly
Eldorado = $100k coin-in yearly
John Ascuaga's Nugget = $50k coin-in yearly

Anyone want to see if they can't find out the requirements for Peppermill and Silver Legacy? I can't find any information where it says how much it takes to earn a point...

Points at Peppermill vary by machine. For VP, it ranges from $40 to $80 a earn a point. I have been quoted daily average of 1000 pts for RFB, however it is probably a little less than this based on discretionary comps I have seen (perhaps 800 pts per day?).

The Atlantis number looks wrong to me, I do about $20K a day and the hosts have laughed at RFB :slight_smile: My yearly total is over $100K.

Thanks for the info.

I can only speak to Atlantis as I have not played at the others - but I can tell you from my experience your $60k CI yearly for RFB is wayyyy off. My average visit is for 3 nights and total CI per trip generally $100k-$150k; it used to be that got me RFB - but in the last 2 years I have had to almost beg to get comps - it certainly isn't automatic.

That $60k is just going off of a "Platinum" status points of 15k per year (takes $4 coin-in to earn a point)
And I guess I was off by my definiton of RFB..I meant, rooms whenever you want them, and food using your comp balance ($1500 worth of comps per year is enough for me)

Here is my experience:

Nugget...I played 5K one afternoon last year and lost $500. I then started to get free room offers for 2 nights, including almost all WE. I stayed there 2 nights earlier this year and proceeded to lose again. I'm now getting offers for 2 free nights, including every WE,even HAN. As you know their comp rate is pretty good so it pays for my buffet or coffee shop meals.

Grand Sierra...played one afternoon and lost $500. Then they started sending lousy offers. I stayed 3 nights on an email offer available to anyone (better offer than what they mailed me) and lost $2000. They did pick up my room charges. Same lousy offers continue.

Peppermill...I am a long time loser there. Even though my CI is only about 3K a day, I lose so much that I get offers for 3 nights in the Tuscan Tower with $125FP. NO food though.

SL...I get pretty good offers, but comps have been terribly low...only .06%. Last trip the comp rate improved, perhaps because I have had so many losing trips in a row. FP is a joke, though, about .1%
My comp rate there varies by a factor of 2 from day to day and even hour to hour despite playing the same games (DDB) on the same machines.

WHERE did you get the information that $4.00 c/i earns a point? Last time I checked
on VP it ranged between $40 - $100 c/i to earn one point!

Forgive me, I think when I said "RFB" I meant to say, "Never have to spend your own money in a casino on anything other than gambling."

A few years ago I hustled bounceback "welfare checks" in Reno; I did not play at Atlantis per a mutual agreement. I did play slots and vp at Peppermill, and I tried to use a backdoor method. I forgot the exact number of points I got, but I generated enough points in one day to go up the next level and qualified for RFB status. I never asked for RFB and I generally use a fraction of my comps anyway since what I wanted was the huge welfare checks.

My point is rather than get XXXK points per year, think of Y% of XXXK points per trip and see if that does the trick. The Y% is quite sensitive to share, but it does work. For example, Sands in AC (which is now closed) wanted XXXX pts in 6 month for elite status, but if you got XXX points in ONE DAY, you were in. The problem with Peppermill was that you couldn't track your coin-in and the boothlings practiced don't ask, won't tell! I would love you give a number but I don't know it myself.

Tim, you are right and please stand your group. Keep in mind the Reno group is very cliquely.

RFB means room, food and beverage and that was what you were asking about. You were NOT asking for the palatial suite when a small room from Sun to Thu would be sufficient. You only wanted a buffet as opposed to a $200 dinner tab. Beverages -- maybe a couple of beers as opposed to Grey Goose at the bar and charge it to the room.

Here's a side story, I was dating this Reno local (cleans hotel rooms in Circus Circus) a few years ago and took her out to eat at the steak house in Peppermill and I thought $100 comps would cover it. It was her idea. When the bill came, the waiter was kind enough to go to the slot club and get the difference -- the bill was $160 or so and I tipped 25% for the good service. I am content with Peppermill's $17 buffet and I generally use 5% to 10% of my comp balance anyway.

Find me a truck stop or a greasy diner joint and I'm happy. When I want a good steak, I'll eat at Smith & Wollensky in NYC (if the place is good enough for Warren Buffett, it's good enough for me!)
