I play VP at Seneca Niagara Casino. Talking with one of the Techs I
asked him if these machines were random hands dealt. He informed me
that the machine is not told when to deal certain hands but, a 1.5
percent hold is built into every machine. This seems to contradict
itself. How can a machine be random and have a hold percentage built
in? Could someone explain this to me? Thanks
video poker
If the game you were looking at was 9/5 jacks or better, the E.V. would be approx. 98.5%, this gives the casino a long term hold against perfect play of 1.5% .
The machine is still perfectly random.
A simpler example is roulette, it's random but the 0 and 00 give the casino a 5% edge.

Hi. Al Pearson already answered this query satisfactorily. As a side
note, I have found that service technicians are a wealth of
MISinformation. I had one that told me that a card that was discarded
could return as a replacement card. And this guy claimed to be a
supervisor! I guess that you don't have to understand randomness or
technical theory to repair a malfunctioning V.P. machine. Dick McK.

I haven't found any $.25 JOB.Most are 8/5 and below. The best we have
is 7/5 BP. He seemed to imply the hold was above and beyond the pay
table. As posted, he might not know. Anyways, Thanks for the
responses..
