Did anyone else get an invite to the June 8 & 9 VP tourneys? How does
it work? What game do they use? How many people are playing? (the
real question is what is the EV given that there are 25K in prizes)
MS has only had 1 VP tourney several years ago (just before they shorted all
the PE last time and raised points to $270 a point). They were played on
tournament VP machines. The last one shorted the royal and increased the
payout for quads. JB type of game, not PE. Half of the people playing were slot
players who had no clue of what there were doing. MS gave everyone a "How to
play VP" cheatsheet. A number of them complained about why MS had a VP
tourney and not another slot tourney since it was unfair to slot players. My
host at the time said it was going to be a regular thing because MS valued their
VP players. A couple of weeks later they changed the PE and points and my
hosts attitude became ummm negative towards VP players ('our VP is just like
Foxwoods"). VP players stayed away in droves and eventually they returned the
FP PE and lowered points to $180 (had been $90 before the change). Figure
the EV is about $100 a session (last time there were about 240 players).
