video poker software

I am a newer member and really enjoy reading all of your posts. I went to LV last July for my 1st time to celebrate my 50th bday. I decided that video poker would be my game of choice because it seemed from what I had read that you could actually win some money. I played video poker for my 1st time in LV at the Bellagio and on the day before we left I hit a RF on a $1.00 machine playing DW for $4000.00. Of course the rest is history because I've been hooked ever since. What are your opinions as far as training software? I think Bob Dancer has two and Jean Scott has one. Do they both have printable strategy cards? Any suggestions would be appreciated. We are planning a trip to Tunica this summer and I want to practice a couple of different games.

<<What are your opinions as far as training software?>>

JT gave you some good recommendations and I put all the products of those authors in the Resource chapter of my book "Frugal Video Poker." Eventually you need to read books by all of them.

However, I wrote "Frugal Video Poker" specifically to help beginners like you by giving information in a step-by-step organization, keeping things simple at first and not throwing too much math at you at the beginning. You build your skill slowly, one concept at a time. Playing skillful VP is a long road and too much to "swallow" all at one time. This book also has another advantage; it is the only book that has been written to specifically go with a particular software program, one with the same name, Frugal VP. Although the book is also valuable for people who already have other software programs, if you are beginning, it is good to have the lessons in this book to help make learning to use the software easier.

You can read about these products and other helpful ones at my Web site below.

I wish you skillful luck. The more you study the "luckier" you will be.

Ditto what Jean and JT said.

If I was going to buy only one book it would be Jean's "Frugal Video
Poker" because it give you the most complete coverage of the subject
in a single book. It's a "must have" for the new or novice player and
also contains some new and more advanced topics for the more
experienced.

Regarding software Jean's FVP would also be my choice if I could only
buy one; however, I haven't used Dancer's newest software. I've heard
that it's excellent as well. I do have the older WinPoker from
Dancer, and it's very good but will not create strategy chargs for
printing out.

If you get into VP in a big way you'll eventually buy most of what's
available, but this is a good starting point.
