Random games, very poor paytables. If any come in at even 92%, I'd
be surprised. These are run and monitored by Oregon State Lottery.
Each place of business is allowed 5 machines. Seems like every
restaurant, tavern and bowling alley has the machines. You can find
them easily as they display the Oregon State Lottery logo
prominently in the front window. They are huge money-makers for the
business and the State. The games available on the machines are
numerous, I have never seen any analysis of them. Wager 1-to-8
quarters per hand. Max WIN for any hand is $600. Ticket out that the
bartender or cashier can cash for you.
Even tho' I KNOW the ER is grossly negative, I've been known to play
them whilst visiting my brother in Portland. I've hit $600 Royals.
The games I play are "4 of a Kind Bonus" (akin to DB), "Four-Leaf"
(akin to Aces and Faces, with a $600 payoff for sequential Royal!)
and "Joker Poker". There is a Deuces Wild game, but they really
short the low end, including quads at 3-1. Another game that is
tolerable is "Oregon Draw": 10's or better pay 1-1, I forget what
they short, trips might be only 2-1, that kind of punishment. Some
paytables improve slightly by playing 4 quarters instead of 1.
Bottom line is play for "entertainment purposes only". Certainly not
worth a special trip. Save your money for Nevada or the other
islands of full-pay VP. And don't let any of your VP-playing friends
catch you playing in Oregon. And don't mention it on this website
either. Oops!
