All you may need to do is add more memory. Of course, you can find
new systems for around $300 that will make your old hardware look
like a 3 legged turtle.

I do understand. But this damn thing won't break, my cat only has two legs.

My upbringing at the Big U included fighting for every bit/byte and
micro-second (not nano or pico) on those IBM main-frames. Some of you must remember
punchcards and half day turn-arounds? One wrong key-punch and the deal was
off...no compilation for you...come back again tomorrow.

To me, I am still in heaven in 1995 Technology.

I feel your pain! My first mainframe computer was a Honeywell with a
whopping 8-meg (no disks, just tape). "JCL" was keyed in through
octal buttons..there was no typewriter console let alone a CRT
(Cathode Ray Tube or monitor for you youngsters <smile>.)

I recall those times fondly. Windows 3.1 and an 800MB drive could handle
anything. You were revered and admired by your neighbors if you had 128MB
of ram. Oh well, I guess if when the Village People asked if I were ready
for the 80's, and I answered no then, I sure as hell ain't ready for the
21st century. By the way, in 1995 weren't blackberries still a delicious
morsel of fruit?

I totally relate, Bluestreak. My old laptop, on which I've played
over 4 million hands of WP6, gives me the same warning every time I
fire it up, "Your computer is now over 90 months old and viruses may
be present etc.........

I don't care! If she dies, she dies! She's served her purpose
admirably.

Maybe in celebration of receiving Bob's new software, which my
wonderful vpdaughter purchased for my birthday last March, I'll
buy a new 'puter.

Cheers,
~Babe~

I still have a full blown Apple Lisa computer sitting in the closet
including hard copy of the source code.

Has Bob mention the price for VPW (Video Poker for Winners)?
Will it be downloadable when purchased?

Having dealt with both punched cards and paper tape myself, I ask you -
do you still drive a ten year old car? No, make it a 50 year old car.
because in terms of technology advancements, computers age much faster
than cars.

I agree that back in the (good old?) days we had to fight for every
byte and microsecond. But the fact of the matter is that we don't have
to now. It makes the average programmer a bit inefficient by that
yardstick. But that is not the only yardstick of measure.

I've still got an old 4.77 mghz PC clone in the basement if you want your
old bucket of bolts to seem like a super computer. Don't know what else to
use it for. It's too big to make a good paper weight.

If you need memory, Let me know what you need. I think I have several
old sticks that you might be able to use. Send me a note offline with
your memory type and I'll see what I can dig up. Might be a cheap way
to stretch the old computer out a bit longer. Can't hurt.
