I understand about Harrah's Laughlin vs. the Rio. My mistake.

Just a small question. If you could have gone to Laughlin to play their 10/7 machine(s) for the 1800 points, why did you decide to play 9/6 JoB in LV? Didn't you slight yourself on the advantage? I think it's only 90 miles, and with a fast car that's 1 hour 15 minutes tops.

I appreciate the honesty on the $1200 loss. My opinion is that most people would see a loss of some kind when going for a certain color card, and that's why I don't think it's a very good idea. I don't live in LV so I get all kinds of free stay offers, flights to all the other locations, etc. What do they give locals?

I am one who did this - I went Diamond at Harrah's Laughlin on the $1
10/7DB last fall. The machine ate $1100 before it coughed up my first
FH, and another benji before I saw my first 4oak. In the end, I got
Diamond, and lost $1700 in that session. UGLYYYYYYYYY

"Diamond in a Day" offer?

I was playing $1 9/6 Jacks at Harrah's AC (where, unlike you Skip,
even 3x cb only added .2% to my ER :frowning:

I breezed through the first $12K and was very close to break-even.
Pleased with myself, I charged into the last leg of my play convined
it would be a coast. Right ... a downhill one to the tune of $1300.

I don't think it amounts to taking them to the cleaners Harry, but I
got my diamond in a day at Lake Charles on $ 9/6 JOB and it cost me
about $200. Lake Charles requires $20K in one day (6 a.m. to 6 a.m.)
for Diamond. I then got another one for my son (who doesn't play VP)
about 6 months later and I hit a royal on $ 9/6 which resulted in a
diamond and almost $4K profit for the day. The BB cash which I
received from my diamond more than offset the $200 loss. Each
diamond took about 4 hours playing time. I really am not a fan of
Harrah's, but the junket offers from Lake Charles play are terrific.

  Yes, I had to give up some EV (about a theoretical $100 worth, in fact), assuming I would have received the same bounceback check and coupons (a theory I have not tested).

  But I live more than 100 miles from Harrah's Laughlin and there is no way to average 75 MPH from my driveway to the casino. I can get there in about two hours or maybe a little more. That hundred bucks is not enough to compensate me for four hours of my time and $25-$30 worth of gas. And it's difficult for us to get away most of the time.

  Still, I would much rather play at Harrah's Laughlin. If I had been able to get away for a weekend there I would have done it. When we lived in Southern Calif. we made a lot more trips to Laughlin than to Las Vegas.

  In fact if I ever get a chance for a little vacation I'll probably head for Laughlin as the first stop, at least.
