I have a theory (completely unsubstantiated, by the way) that when you are having a losing day you are simply playing the wrong game at the wrong time.
For that reason, some of you might venture over to Keno with a few dollars after losing at 9/6 Jacks where you couldn't possibly do worse than break even and ended up blindsided.
In the long run, making that move will kill you. But so will playing 9/5 DDB or any other game with an overall lesser payback.
But that's LONG-TERM. And in the short run people do hit royals or aces with a kicker every day on 9/5 or even 8/5 DDB. And they also hit 6/6 on Keno, which is not all that undoable.
In that regard, for all you "light" keno players, I can tell you that TI (Treasure island) prior to the new owners (my last visit) had Keno near the deli that paid 3200 for a 6/6 which is about double the usual jackpot. To compensate for that you sacrifice a bit hitting 5/6 and 4/6. But, hey, if you're playing Keno, you're only looking for a "short-term" miracle anyway.

Just like video poker, you can tell video keno return by the paytable.
These are the 95% returns and are fairly easy to find:
7 spot: 7000-422-22-2-1
6 spot: 1660-75-4-3
5 spot: 838-13-3
4 spot: 100-5-2
There are even better paytables, progressives, and bonuses, you just have to check around.
Keno has the reputation of being the tightest game in the house, which is good for comps and your player rating, but in reality, like any other game, it can go positive under the right circumstances.
