Subject: Venetian "Little Deuce Coup" VP Tournament Last WeekendHey, everyone! I came in SECOND PLACE in the video poker tournament last
weekend at Venetian and won $5,000!The Venetian has been using these awful, old VP machines for a long time.
They have a strange 'tournament' pay schedule (750 for RF, 500 for SF, 400
for 4 Aces, 300 for 4 face cards, 250 for other 4-of-a-kinds, 100 for FH,
etc.). So, getting a RF is not a guarantee that you won the tournament,
like some other tournament. I have the VP software, but I never bothered to
calculate the best strategy for this schedule because, playing only 320
hands per tournament, it seems like winning is more 'luck' than playing
perfect strategy. The good news is: I heard a rumour this weekend that the
Venetian will be getting new tournament VP machines very soon. Hopefully,
they will be the 'normal' pay schedules that we are used to.

Congrats! This tourney mode VP paytable sounds alot like it comes from Bally
Gamemakers. The River Palms hasn't done a VP tourney in three years but they
used Gamemakers in tourney mode.
But I think you are overlooking something here. The tourney mode, if I
remember correctly, produced a ER of 110+% when plugged into Winpoker. Straights,
flushes and straightflushes are enhanced. I don't have the paytable anymore,
but I think optimum strategy resembled All-American. You are passing up a
possible edge if the tourney moves to standard issue games.
So who knows the Bally Gamemaker Tourney mode paytable?
