I can also vouch for the comments below from personal experience. I
initally stayed at the Venetian from a company that is now defunct,
but offered free rooms and some comps for minimal time play. I think
my offer was something like ave. $3 bet 4 hours play which was vp or
slots and was total session ave. so you bet $5 for 2 hrs and $1 for
2hrs. When I initallly spoke with a host I asked him what he was
looking for in total coin-in and he just gave me a blank stare as if
he never heard of that way of calculating play. Time of play and
average bet is really important....bottom line I check with the host
later the first day to see if my play was on-track and he said I was
all set for the whole stay and up-graded me to gold card status...I
don't think I gave them all that much coin-in less than $10k i have
never had problems at V with comp offers.
I see that nothing has changed at the V regarding their unique and
confusing marketing offers. Similar complaints and discussion have
occurred in prior years on this message board and others.
Just to summarize: their play requirement for slots/VP is
obviously
vague, inconsistent, and irrational ... it's primary goal is to
scare
away any player looking to abuse the offer by not playing at all
and
it also gives them carte blanche discretion for special situations
of
their choosing.
Practically speaking ... it's an idle threat. Just relax, play
your
normal game, and don't sweat it. And I speak from personal
experience.
In fact, follow their "time" recommendation and play SLOW. You
would
think they'd be more interested in coin-in, but they are not.
I agree with your comments about promotions in general ... and
offers
from the V are really player-unfriendly.
