Just to let everyone know a more interesting change our fickle folks at the V-P have just done. Yesterday, while I was playing the $2 9/6 machines in the Palazzo, a woman was placing new "stickers" on the machines which indicated a change in coin in for point accumulation. These stickers indicated that it would take a considerable more play on the 9/6 stand alone machines to earn 1 point. At the Gold level, instead of $2.50 of play to earn 1 point, it now takes $17.50 to earn 1 point, thus bringing the effective cash back rate to about.03% - or essentially negligible. The earning rate for the the other levels were also decreased to comparable levels - I believe $14.00 for the Platinum level. Time to move on. Take care.
Venetian Palazzo 9/6 Changes
That must also mean that, instead of requiring $75,000 coin in to retain your gold standing, it now takes $525,000.
Wow!

Hi,
A call to Club Grazie confirmed the new changes. Person I spoke to at Club Grazie marketing was unaware of the change until she called down to the Club Grazie booth. She and I both at least agreed that it's a big jump for coin-in to earn 1 point. I will be canceling my reservation at the Palazzo for next weekend and if they happen to ask why, I will state the obvious.
All the best,

I wouldn't wait until they asked for a reason (they won't) -- just call and tell them I'd like to cancel my reservation due to the recent changes, etc...
Maybe they'll get the message if more and more people tell them up front.

The "good old days" of great machine selection and full point credit at the Venetian ended a long time ago. I haven't stayed there in over a year and was easily a solid mid-Gold level player who would have made Platinum but simply stopped giving them play.
Apparently, my absence as well as that of many others has now caused VP inventory to improve somewhat. But to make their "numbers work" the rocket scientists at Venetian decided to try and fool us by making point accumulation negligible. Common sense tells you that 9/6 Jacks is a negative game if you aren't in effect earning anything additional for playing it.

Hi,
I am going to ask a dumb question, here goes. If the V/P has it in print (their brochure)that Gold members earn 1 point for every $2.50 coin in could they "overnight" simply put a sticker on a machine and change the terms of agreement? Is it really that easy for the casino to do something like that? I would believe somewhere in fine print, like your credit card agreement that no one bothers to read, it gives them the right to change, alter or amend their part of the agreement. But, anywhere must it specifically says 9/6 JOB? I know if my utilities company's request for a rate hike they have to file with the Consumer Affairs. Cable TV, telephone and even my garage companies gives a 30 days heads up notice on rate hikes. I realize that casinos are private companies but are they govern by anyone agency? Something CCC should look into or we just take what's thrown at us? Just venting. Thanks.

Actually Club Grazie raised the coin-in requirements to earn a point on some other games as well. There is a handout at the booth.
Coin-in requirements were raised the most on "stand-alone JoB". There are two other new levels which include other types of video poker as well as video blackjack and video roulette if memory serves me correctly.
I picked up the following sheet at the slot club on Thursday:
···
====
A NEW SPIN ON VIDEO POKER
Please be advised that effective April 29, 2009, there will be a new Club Grazie point earning structure for certain video poker and blackjack machines as described below:
o Grazie Level
o Stand-Alone 9/6 Jacks or Better Games $21 coin-in = 1 pt
o Select Custom Video Poker Games - Tier 1* $21 coin-in = 1 pt
o Multi-Play Blackjack Games $12 coin-in = 1 pt
o Select Custom Video Poker Games - Tier 2* $12 coin-in = 1 pt
o Gold Level
o Stand-Alone 9/6 Jacks or Better Games $17.5 coin-in = 1 pt
o Select Custom Video Poker Games - Tier 1* $17.5 coin-in = 1 pt
o Multi-Play Blackjack Games $10 coin-in = 1 pt
o Select Custom Video Poker Games - Tier 2* $10 coin-in = 1 pt
o Platinum Level
o Stand-Alone 9/6 Jacks or Better Games $14 coin-in = 1 pt
o Select Custom Video Poker Games - Tier 1* $14 coin-in = 1 pt
o Multi-Play Blackjack Games $8 coin-in = 1 pt
o Select Custom Video Poker Games - Tier 2* $8 coin-in = 1 pt
All other video poker machines will continue to earn points per Video Poker Points as set forth in the Club Grazie brochure. See Club Grazie or slot personnel for more information.
*See Club Grazie for a complete list of Select Custom Video Poker Games - Tiers 1 & 2
I would like to see the list mentioned in the asterisked footnote. Perhaps we can find some machines that are neither Tier 1 nor Tier 2...the "other" machines mentioned above. Maybe some 8/5 BP machines still get full points.
I don't know if the sticker was wrong, but one of the $2-$25 9/6 JoB machiens was (mis-?)labeled as $8 coin-in = 1 pt. I couldn't tell how many points it was actually earning because the entire system was down at the time, and I had to wait over an hour to get a hand pay for cashing out.

Yeah! I hear your venting, brother!
Unfortunately, a casino can do what they want, how they want, any time they want.
It is all in the fine print (and it really is there, that they can do anything they want).

Justmarelv,
I had reservations this weekend at the Palazzo, suite upgrade, $250 free play, VIP check-in etc. I called and canceled my reservation and they did ask why. I told her my displeasure with their recent changes with the Club Grazie points. I'm sure the c/s made a note and then shug her shoulders and said "so what". Now it's back to HET CP which is no better.

I wonder if they've had so many cancellations they've finally decided to start asking why? I've canceled numerous trips and they've never asked me why.

Just so I get this right Badboyz turned down a comped suite and $250 in slot pay to show displeasure at the Venetion. Sounds a bit likke shooting yourself in the foot. Pehaps you take the money and then run.

Recall that Venetian has a fine print disclaimer on the bottom of most of their offers warning that maintaining historic play level at time of booking is necessary for offer. You would probably get the slot play before they noticed your drop in play, but you might get charged on your credit card for the "comped suite". In the past (not recently to my knowledge) players at Venetian have gotten notes under their door during the night warning of insufficient trip play and a threat of offer revocation and charges for room.

Fred,
Yes, that is correct. I get these invite quarterly. They call it "The Suite Life". The current one I have goes to September 2009 and "can be redeemed as many times as you like, as long as you maintain your current level of play, between now and September 30, 2009". It's no biggie, I just wanted to make a statement but now I will be at HET LVCP which is no better.
Have a nice day.

Why not just take the room and the free play, but not put any of your money through? You are already committed to that trip, are you not? Then, let them know at check out. The rooms at the Palazzo are nice and who knows what you may take away playing out the $250 free play?
I'm not criticizing what was done, just presenting an alternative.

I know this is "whistling past the graveyard" and the "fine print" rules in all cases. However. I have inquired several times, specifically, of my host about not playing up to historical standards on a specific trip to Venetian/Palazzo. Each time she told me that they would never renege on an offer, but would undoubtedly not make future offers.
Nothing in writing, of course, from her, just her "opinion".
Caveate emptor! But, I, personally, would probably take that risk.

Bl,
I am committed to this trip but I have alternatives. The year is still young and there will be other trips to Vegas before the end of the year. By making a statement I am hoping that they might see the light and make some positive changes, wishful thinking. I have stayed at the Palazzo before on previous occasions so I know about the rooms. I always tell my host to set me up in a room that has a bed 5 X 10, a place for me to nap for 2-3 hours a day, shower and shave and I'm good....lol I go to Vegas for four days three nights abuse my body and then crash out on the plane ride home. It's that the norm? I don't need beautiful rooms, with a view or a jacuzzi. The wife likes it and it's a nice perk. I can't get into the math, but if $250 allows me to play 100 hands and get 100 points while under the current reward the $250 allows for 14.285 hands ($17.50 for a point) and you only accumulate 14 points that's a big discrepancy between the two. BTW-it's now officially posted on the Club Grazie web page. Stand alone 9/6 JOB, Tier 1*, $17.50 a point. Selected custom video poker Tier 2 is $10.00 a point. You could download a pdf file of what's a tier 1 and teir 2 machine. The first offer I received from the Palazzo was for $600 free play. They couldn't split up the free play on two player's card, so that the wife could go play penny slots on one card. So I had to play the entire $600 through on one VP machine. Guess my current play is not to par and thus the lower current free play. BTW-I still have some accumulated cash, gift card or slot credits at the Palazzo. Guess I'll be picking it up when I'm there, Vegas, this weekend.

I hear you, and meant no disrespect.
As to the "free play", I was referring to what you might end up with after 25 hands of $2 dollar 9/6 JOB (that's the $250 free play ... I'd never put any of my money in the machine under present circumstances, but I would play their $250). A quad and a couple of flushes might mean a couple hundred bucks, maybe more, more often less.
And, I did end my message with "I'm not criticizing what was done, just presenting an alternative". Maybe I should have said "my alternative".
Bl,
Believe me no disrespect taken at all. In fact I appreciate you taking the time to give me your input and suggestions. I've been going to Vegas long enough to understand how to play the comp game. You have to make them want you and not the other way around. In fact I called the Club Grazie booth and expressed my displeasure regarding their changes. The nice woman was almost apologetic and was trying to find ways make me reconsider my cancellation. Club Grazie customer service has, in my opinion, more information available to them then HET boothling (hate that word). She knew that I made Gold renewal for next year and how many times I've been to the V/P and practically how much action I put through in the past. I told her it was my way of making a statement and she assured me that she will pass it on to my host and her superior. She was so nice and gracious and asked in a very nice way "is video poker the only game you play?". Maybe she saw that there was some blackjack table action in my portfolio. She also mention that "you can charge to your room for every dollar you get 20 points" she knew her stuff.
Bl, it's good we're exchanging ideas. Otherwise, we'll be reading the other posts on this board. Ahem

That's cool! Thanks!
I am one of those nuts that really enjoys playing Video Poker. I am NOT looking at Video Poker as a "job alternative" <smile>. I appreciate having 9/6 JOB at the Venetian/Palazzo, even though it is at the $2 level (almost above my "pay grade" <LOL>. I am not even that far "out of joint" with the loss of "cash back". Silly as it sounds, my real regret, with what they are doing, is the loss of "gold status". $75,000 coin-in is no sweat. However, $525,000 is another matter.
And, I hear what you are saying about only needing a bed for "crashing" in Las Vegas. I agree. But, the rooms are free and they do keep my "other half" happy with their "mini-opulence".
Always nice to hear from you.
