Venetian Grazie Shopping Going on Now

In years past, using Grazie points for FP was not a good option and I think you were very limited in how much you could redeem in this way. However, I just now checked the official rules and I read this:

Slot Credits will be available for Grazie Gift point redemption by participants. Grazie Gift points may be redeemed for the following:

$250 Slot Credits = 143,000 Grazie points
$500 " = 286,000 " "
$1000 = 572,000 "
$2500 = 1,428,600
$5000 = 2,857,200

This seems to be a much better rate than using Grazie points for overpriced items. But there must be a catch??? A limit? Or, perhaps it is the following statement: "Slot Credits may be downloaded on certain participatory machines with $1 denominations and above." Perhaps these are special machines with a very low return???

Has anyone done this option or investigated it???

No catch. I wss at the Venetian Saturday and cashed in my Grazie
Points for $2250. in freeplay. When I listed the gifts I wanted I
just listed 2 $1000. and one $250. freeplay I got 3 golf balls with
the remaining 7000 points. The freeplay is put on your card by the
Grazie gift people. The $250. worked on the Bally roulette machines.
The $1000. didn't work on roulette but it did work on the video poker
machines outside the Palazzo high limit room. The best game was 7/5
bonus poker so it cost 2% to collect the money. I figure the value of
the Grazie gift freeplay is .1% of your total play.

This seems to be a much better rate than using Grazie points for

overpriced items. But there must be a catch??? A limit? Or,

I wish the rest of us who waited in three endless lines Saturday
morning had known this. Most of the people I talked to simply gawked at
the outrageous points needed for gifts and ended up disappointed.

On the way out I did find single line 9/6 Jacks inside the Palazzo high
limit area. But those machines would probably not accept slot credits
from the event.

As for Venetian high limit, it has truly become a vast wasteland. Had
to look at paytables twice, staring in disbelief at what I saw.

I don't know when they opened up a lot of the 9/6 JoB machines, but they were available when we were there this afternoon, but all closed back up when we were there about 9 p.m. tonight. These people are crazy!!!!

Anyway, you could use the Grazie Free Play on these machines.

Also, some of the players who had been cut off earlier in the year - not 86'd but their slot cards taken from them - were able to come back and redeem their Grazie points and they had to have a special card made for them to redeem Grazie Free Play.

I guess I'm not "outing a play" now -- there was a bank of 8 machines
outside Venetian's high limit room that were out of service on
Saturday AM. Later Saturday all of them had 9/6 JOB in $1 and up
denominations, single line on one side and 3/5 on the other. We played
for a while on Saturday along with another couple who were equally
astonished to find them. I played them again on Sunday, and used my
earned free play on them.

Monday I played real poker elsewhere. Tuesday I checked back in the
afternoon and the entire bank was out of service again. I fought
through the biggest crowd of conventioneers I've seen at the Venetian
in a while over to Palazzo, where there were lots of machines out of
service, including everything in the high limit room.

I had thought that LVS's slot managers had a basically rational
strategy. Short sighted and not likely to succeed perhaps, but I was
giving them credit for knowing what they were doing at some level. Now
I just think they're idiots. Why would they take those machines out of
service completely when they have both loyal customers and a huge
crowd of conventioneers in town at the same time? What are they
worried about -- that some tourist might accidentally sit down at a
favorable game and get lucky?

Anyway, if you're here later in the week for grazie gifts take a look
around. They might actually get up the nerve to turn a few decent
machines on when the convention crowd leaves.

The only time the machines seem to be in service for all, is when there
is some sort of drawing based on point earning going on. In this case
it may be the daily Grazie Gift drawings. The only reason I can
imagine for why they do this, is to stimulate additional play by reel
players too when they see the competition. Kind of a casino induced
feeding frenzie.

I was there on Saturday for the "Premier" shopping event. It was a
serious disappointment. My 86,000 points got me some candles and a
box of chocolates. Harrah's and Mirage give you more for your
money/play.

Their on/off access to the machines is very frustrating. You never
know what you will find on any given day or even during the day it
can change. I agree with you that it is most puzzling.

Result for me will be significantly less time playing at Venetian.

I can't speak for you locals who are able to take advantage of
opportunities on short notice.

But as someone who has to actually fly in and book offers in advance
I do have a message for Venetian management:

"I will no longer play the role of 'cuckoo clock' dashing in and out
of your casino to see if something playable is offered that day (or
hour!). Almost every other casino maintains at least some stability
to its VP games. They may not offer as many good paytables as I like.
But when I go to the trouble of visiting you I do not appreciate
seeing "Out of Service" on a bank of machines I had just played
before taking a lunch break. This is why I have not given you any
stays or play since April after coin-in well into six figures earlier
this year. If you want good players like myself to return, act like
it".

Well they undoubtedly upgraded them for the Grazie gifts drawings. I
expected them to be swarmed, and I'm greedy enough that I heeded
paladin's advice and kept my fingers away from my laptop keyboard
until the "play" disappeared for at least a day. In fact though there
were always plenty of empty seats at the bank in the Venetian at least
when I was around.

What seems inexplicable to me is turning them off less than half way
through Grazie gifts on a day with an unusually large number of
conventioneers on the premises. What were they worried about? That
somebody who read in his Frommer's guide that video poker is a good
casino game would sit down at one and get lucky?

We were at the Venetian for a tournament last week on Wed., Thur.,
and Fri. When we got there on Wed (10/29) I checked practically
every bank of VP in both the Venetian and Palazzo looking for
something to play without luck. On Friday night after the tournament
party those 8 machines with 9/6 jacks "appeared".

We had about 200,000 grazie points and I estimate we got about $100
of stuff in real value. We didn't see anything about freeplay for
your grazie points.
