Venetian Comps (or lack of comps) Vs TI

Hi,

Venetian
We stayed at the Ventetian on a (3) nt comp that included $50 Freeplay and $50 F&B. Last year we stayed there on the same offer and gave them about 20K play over the 3 days. This year we played about 95K there over the three nts. When I went to check out, they wouldn't com p any room charges above the offer. The woman at the host booth was rude and pretty snobby. We had seen Blue Man Group and also had a dinner charged to the room. Is this typical for the Venetian? Could the reason they wouldn't comp anything be because of the little play last year? To top this off, service was poor and food (especially the breakfast) was fair.

TI
We also stayed at TI on a (3) marketing comp in a mini suite with $250 FP and $100 F&B. We played almost the exact same amt 98K over the (3) nts. When we went to check out, we spoke with a host who comped all charges includning dinner in Francesco's, (3) Mystere tickets and (3) breakfasts. He also said he would bring us in anytime RFB.

I couldn't believe how differently we were treated at what I consider comparable properties for the same play. If this is typical, why would anyone stay at the Venetian?

We won't be back to Venetian unless it is to burn them on a future offer that does not require a minimum amount of play.

Joel

Hi Joel.

I stay at the Venetian frequently (about eight times a year) taking
advantage of their free rooms, free tournaments, free play, etc. (including
the same offer you received).

The experience you described is very typical. At least for me.

I have had similar conversations with the hosts. No matter how much money I
put through their machines, I never get any comps over and above the stated
offers. And, the hosts are *always* rude and snobbish.

However, I have played at the Venetian on occasion without actually staying
there. On those occasions, they have comped meals (usually, $100 or so) if
I ask. But, they will never comp a meal (or anything else) for me, if they
are already giving me a free room.

I've had the same experience at Venetian - I get the "standing offer
of three nights in one of our suites" thing in the mail every several
months. But, no matter what I play - even up to 50k one day, I've
never gotten a meal comp. Instead I get a rude host that looks up my
play and says things like "I see your play and it did not disappoint
us on this trip." You can bet I don't stay there for a while after
an exchange like that one. Not until I get a big free play offer as
well - haha.

I'd be very careful if you think you can "burn" a casino of anything.
All offers are subject to cancellation at the casino's discretion.
Can this turn into a nightmare for you? Absloutely. I know of a
gentleman who thought he would enjoy a free weekend and "burn" the
casino. So, he proceded to just enjoy Vegas and not play.

Know what happened? At 3AM he got a phone call and a knock at the
door telling him he had 30 minutes to vacate the premises.

On another occasion, a lady at a Caesar's shopping event told me she
and her husband came in on a $2,500 certificate offer. He didn't
play "up to par". On the next morning when the shopping certificates
were distributed they didn't get one for $2,500 - they got none at
all.

I'm very "wary" when I have a losing session of where my points stand
for that trip. But, honestly, without a decent-sized loss or adequate
play the casino will not allow you to rip it off.

If you've been treated poorly, simply chalk it up to experience and
don't go back.

I have dated experience at Venetian ... the last stay recorded
something like 3 years ago. But it sounds like that experience still
bears out to a significant extent given current reports.

Our initial offer was generated by a little over 2 hours $1 Jacks play
on a stop-in. The offer was for only 2 nights -- likely midweek,
although I recall it including Fridays. That was an opportune bridge
for an upcoming week long trip.

The offer had the once infamous "play equivalent to prior trip"
requirement. I asked for specifics ... "Could we really get a 2 night
suite with that little play", I asked incredulously. I was told 2hr
15min @ 4.38 avg bet, or something to that extent, (Bev had mixed in a
little quarter BP) was sufficient.

So, we arrived and I immediately hit the floor after check-in. Before
3p I called to check the play status. The room was covered. As I
went to collect Bev from the room for a late lunch I was smiling like
the proverbial cat that ate the canary -- 2 nights of one of the
finest LV rooms scored on just a couple of hours $1 Jacks play!

After lunch I asked to speak to a host to see what additional play
might garner. Basically, NADA! Well, at that time I was told that if
we recorded something like $25K/night some basic meals might be comped
off. You were either treated as coming in on a promotional room
offer, or you were rated as a standard player. And, I imagine that
$25K/night has since been raised.

I kicked back for a relaxing day at the pool and spent the next day
getting ourselves established for a future trip at Bellagio (where we
enjoyed some fine comps on my play there).

The V. offers continued, ultimately becoming the Bienvenuto offer. We
didn't get the tournament offers and 3 night offers of others. But,
having a luxury room comp available on a play requirement that was
little more than Barbary Coast would expect for was just fine with me.

So, I wonder, is a $5K/night V. room still a possibility (assuming
that you don't make the mistake of trying to impress a host with
aggressive play, setting a high benchmark for future play)?
