Vegas Trip

Well, we came back yesterday from our long anticipated first trip to Vegas. It was nice, but a bit over rated. I kinda expected to be tripping over good VP games there, but they were very hard to find.

The Flamingo hotel was not the resort I expected. The rooms we had were cramped, and in need of a good cleaning and remodeling. The casino, as predicted by y'all before we went, was not player friendly. It sounds wierd, but we had very little time for gambling anyhow. If I had to choose one word to describe the place, it's overwhelming. We were there for a week, and ran quite a bit and still didn't see everything. What we did see though we enjoyed very much.

Freemont street was amazing. We could have spent a whole night there, but got there late so we only saw 2 shows.

The Sirens of TI was a fantastic show. The special effects were mind blowing. When the ship acutally sank.....we were speechless.

The Mirage volcano, was pretty cool, but kinda lackluster.

We never saw the fountains at Belagio, due to some wind the shows were cancelled when we were there.

We rented a car and went to the Hoover Dam, and then a scenic drive through Red Rock Canyon. Well worth the trip. Car rental for the day was over $130 though, kinda steep if you ask me. Glad we did it though. On the way back we stopped at the Red Rock casino, a new place. Only open 6 months. Couldn't find any good VP games though. $5 blackjack was good to me though.

I'm equally glad we didn't rent a car for the whole week. Getting around was very easy on the Deuce. Cheap too. $5 for the whole day.

We hit Bally's to see "Jubilee", our first ever topless show. It was tastefully done, and the effects were spectacular.

I'd like to go back again someday, but I think I'm just as happy with Atlantic City. If we were to go back, I'd be sure to have our trip worked out ahead of time. There was SO much to do, that we didn't know what to do. If we had a schedule worked out it may have been easier. AND, we'd have to fly first class. We aren't built for the seats in economy class, very uncomfortable.

For anybody who hasn't been, I do have some pictures that I wouldn't mind sharing. Just let me know what you would like to see, and I'll send it to you if I have it.

Darrin, I'm glad you have an enjoyable trip. I was shocked at the rate you paid for your rental car. Did you reserve in advance? (You can usually get rental cars for $40 or less if you rent in advance, and things like Entertainment coupons and AAA rates really help.) Lainie
