Vegas Trip Report

I just finished up this year's VP trip to Vegas. For the first time
I actually returned with more money than I left with. In fact I
easily won enough to pay for my trip. My two biggest wins came on
Halloween night at the Palms. I started the night by hitting 4
dueces on the 25 cent FPDW, and then followed that up with a RF on a
sequential 9/6 JOB machine. By the way, I missed the sequential RF
by only two cards which would have been a $50K win! I was still
happy with what I won and quickly stored my winnings in my hotel safe
not to be touched for the remainder of my trip. Here is a few other
comments/observations regarding Vegas this year:
1) You can pick up a lot of quick comps at Terrible's casino, but I
began to question whether their VP machines actually payout according
to their pay tables. I would like to see an audit done on their
machines because I sure didn't seem to win as many sessions there as
other places I played (supposedly the same game - 25 cent 9/6 JOB). I
also thought their sound system was unintelligible, and the place was
way too polluted for this non-smoker.
2) I liked playing at the Palms the best, with Gold Coast my second
choice (liked their sound system and music selection).
3) I was absolutely amazed how many people would play the 6/5 or 7/5
JOB games when they had 9/6 machines available a few rows away.
4) I learned that Terrible's changes the odds of their low
denomination JOB machines so the odds get WORSE when you go from the
10 cent game to the 25 cent game. I guess they figure when someone
increases the denomination to win back their losses, they can really
stick it to them.
5) I discovered the $17 16 oz. porterhouse steak special at the
California - one of the very best steak specials in Vegas and one
that I would highly recommend. You must ask for this special as it
is an off menu item.
6) The Criss Angel Believe show at the Luxor was only so-so. I would
suggest sitting in the front of the second section, as some of the
action occurs in the audience area. Criss should put his on stage
magic act at the END of the main show rather than the beginning.
7) If you do the 5 hour drive to the Grand Canyon, plan on spending
the night before driving back to Vegas. Consider taking in Laughlin
on the way back.
That's it for this year - now looking forward to next year's
adventure.
