Vegas trip report 11/28-12/2

We just returned from LV; lighter in the wallet but a fine time was
had by all for the most part. Left Detroit 11/28 pm on a first
class ticket(wife in coach) after redeeming Northwest world perks
miles. The seat was great, nice and wide. They served me rotgut
wine and potato chips as the meal. Not what I expected! Ah!
Northwest does it again. Picked up an HHR at the car rental center
for the first time. I think I like it, not quite sure though. We
took Harrah's up on a two nighter at Caesers with a blckjack tourny
at Rio. They stuck us in Palace Tower not Augustus. A world of
difference. Palace tower is not clean, is not well kept and
management has a problem there. We immediately left for GVR as
planned and played the full pay Optimum machines. GVR seems no
different than Sunset. I expected more luxury but it's just another
Station property. Not as bad as Caesers, but nothing special. I
was dealt 4 aces on 10/7 DB .50. That made my night. Wife dropped
$200 playing FPDW and LDW. Beverage service at GVR terrible. We
had to walk to the bar ourselves. The place was empty also. We
drove back to Caesers to relax and get some sleep and found some
problems with our room. One phone didn't work, one water faucet was
leaking and did't work. We crashed after a long day. Our plan all
along was to stiff Harrah's and establish at Venetian. I went over
to Venetian and began playing $1 9/6 JOB. After a few bloody Mary's
and several quads I had $300 up over $1000. My wife showed up and
we began giving it back. Maybe the bloodies were kicking in. Tried
1$ 8/5 BP triple plays. We gave it back even faster. All of it!
How stupid am I? Plus an extra $200. What a putz! Back to Caesrs
to get ready for dinner at Rao's. My sister-in-law joined us.
Great food, great restaurant, great lamb chops. Only complaint was
the wine list, cheapest bottle was $54. We drank water. Spent $192
for three. Great restaurant. Back to the room. We noticed some
other stuff. A large "bodily fluid stain" on the ottoman, a blood
stain on the bed skirt, the bathroom wasn't cleaned by
housekeeping. Disgusting, couldn't wait to leave. Went downstairs
for a drink and paid $12 for vodka tonic. That's enough, I'm outta
here. Checked into Planet Hollywood next AM. Very nice, very
clean, nice room in a well run hotel. How pleasant. Playing 1$ BP
in old London Club and got crushed both days. We could not hit
ACEs, not once. Service was great up there with highend booze. I
really like it up there. Got our $200 slot credits and $50 food
credit no problem. Were upgraded to Gold during first day. We
started playing pnsud and wife was dealt a .25 royal. That really
helped. We ate at the buffet and were thoroughly unimpressed. The
coffee shop was great for breakfeast. Planet Dailies I believe is
the name. Huge portions and very good. All in all a fun time in
LV, we lost $1500 between us but enjoyed our first trip in almost 2
years. Harrah's is just a train wreck. They have ruined Caesers!
The gambling is atrocious. $5JOB 8/5, 6/5 BP. The blackjack is
unplayable. What a shame. I understand Harrah's earned a record
profit in 2006 worldwide. If they continue doing that, nothing will
change and that sucks. They've taken the fun out of Vegas and
they've gone too far. They don't care, it's all about profit.
hopefully our play at Venetian,$33,000 coin in in one day will
generate some offers. Planet Hollywood was great. I wish they had
some better paytables, but that's the strip. We have a $19 return
airfare coupon. I'm curious how that will work out. That's enough
for now. Over and out.

Thanks for the rundown. You saved us a couple of side trips that would have ended up in dissapointment. We leave Saturday for a 5 day vp marathon......prolly going to stay downtown now except for a couple of shows. Remember ..... life is only what you make it. Never settle for second best.Bill

I am amazed Northwest has the audacity to sell those junkboxes of greasy sausage and cheeses with a pack of candy for breakfast. Come on Northwest, you are solvent now treat your cramped customers a little better

I agree with what you say about Harrahs but I learned
over a year ago that if you want to make money at
Harrahs you need to be a shareholder and not a
customer. Sure I'll enter their properties for some
meals or entertainment but they haven't seen a penny
of mine in a good long time - and now the offer are
starting to flow in for me to come back.
