Vegas Rental Car question

Ray,

Dollar rental cars are very competitive and they usually allow you to travel anywhere in the continental U. S.
You can check on-line for their policies at www.dollar.com
If you book with Dollar there is no requirement for a credit card at reservation. Even after you book with them, check back every couple days or so as the prices are constantly changing.

On my next trip to Vegas I would like to rent a car in Vegas and also
drive to Bullhead City, AZ (about 20 miles from Laughlin) to visit
friends for a couple of days. I understand that a rental care should not
be driven out of state. If there is a penalty for this ,is there any
way to know which companies have devices which can track you
geographically. Thanks for any info. Ray

In my experience the rental car companies don't mind if you go
interstate, but have a problem with going out of the country (Mexico
or Canada). I usually rent Alamo or budget.

In your case travel to Arizona would be permitted by all rental car
companies. I believe all or, at least most, rental car companies
will allow you to travel to adjoining states, but prohibit travel
beyond. Recent examples - the rental contract for a car picked up in
Utah permitted travel to Wyoming, but prohibited travel to Montana.
Another example was a rental in Portland, Oregon prohibited travel to
British Columbia whereas a rental from the same company in Seattle
permitted this travel.

I can't speak for other rental companies but I can report that Avis
has no travel restrictions (at least within the Continental U.S.). A
car rented within any of the 48 states can be driven to any location.

We've taken advantage of this (combined with a group rate that's
available to us) to take some extended vacations with unlimited milage
allowance.
