Vegas on TV

If you missed the three new shows that aired last night, you will
have a chance to see them again Saturday night (Nov. 16). Each will be
repeated twice that evening.

1. Vegas Cheaters Exposed - interesting because one computer expert talked
about the RNG NOT being really random and software can be developed to
exploit that weakness.

2. Top Ten Ways to Win in Vegas - appearances by Jeff Compton, Bob Dancer,
Anthony Curtis (who appears frequently on all 3 shows), and others. We are
in #7 - Couponing. And for all that have commented that Brad never gets as
much camera time as I do - this time he really shines!

3. High Rollers - a better-than-average (in my opinion) treatment of this
subject. Interesting footage of how the really rich gamble and party down.

There are 3 gambling/Vegas shows on Wednesday night (13th) but they may be
re-runs. Not sure.

That's what I was afraid of - we don't get the travel channel. Usually we
catch the Vegas stuff on Discovery or TLC or such. Thanks for the info.

Regarding item 1 below, I will risk commenting before seeing the
show. It is true that computers are not capable of generating truly
random numbers. RNGs generate pseudo-random number sequences. Some
methods to do this are much more complex (and "more random") than
others. It's also true that software CAN be developed to exploit
pseudo-random number sequences. The difficulty in doing this depends
on the complexity of the pseudo-random number generator. In the end,
we are dependent upon laws where the RNG chips are manufactured
and/or used along with the competence and morality of those who
enforce those laws. We have this same dependence if we believe that
the software (distinct from the RNG) does not reduce the number of
jackpots or checks our slot club number to decide whether to affect
the fairness of the game.

I would guess that Rob Singer would consider me to be corrupted by
those who espouse using proper strategy and believe in the "long run"
when I say that I am not worried about this when I play VP. However,
I keep detailed records of my results and compare Expected Values (or
whatever it should really be called) to my actual results. So far,
my results have supported my faith.

Yes, these shows are on the Travel Channel - and I am also glad we weren't
featured in the one on cheats.
