I haven't rented from Dollar, but I too have noticed that Alamo
hasn't been as competitive this year. When I went down to LV in
May I got a better deal with Budget. It really surprised me about
Alamo not being as competitively priced. Maybe they don't need
the business anymore.

we almost always rent from dollar. they just have the lower prices across
the board. have never had a problem. only once did we have to wait for a
car because it was a sunday after a boxing weekend and they had so many
cars returned they couldn't get them washed and processed fast enough. we
literally were standing outside the car wash on the lot waiting for cars
to come out.

I have used Dollar exclusively for the past two years with no major
problems. I was overcharged once but it was taken care of quickly
with a call to customer service.

One caution: Join Fastlane or pack a lunch when you go to pick up
your car. I once saw the counter line stretched way past the doors of
the pick up building and only one person was working the counter.

I use DOLLAR all the time since they are usually the
cheapest of the 'biggies'. I have never had a problem
with them.

Be sure to sign up for their FASTLANE service and the
shuttle driver will drop you off at your car or row of
cars to choose from. Then you just drive to the exit
booth and get the paperwork handed to you through the
window. Everyone is discovering them, so the lines
are long if you are not FASTLANE.

Their online reservations site works good and be sure
to try LVCVA or CTI as codes to find cheapest rate.
LVCVA affects the base rate while CTI gives $ off per
day or rental. Also try different size cars since CTI
only seems to work for 'intermediate' or above.

One last thing. Be sure to check your rate when
picking up to be sure it matches your confirmation.
AND, check your final cost when turning in. It
probably will be a couple of dollars different, which
is expected, but sometimes an extra day shows up
depending on when the original contract was printed
up.

I think you will be pleased with your DOLLAR rental.

As others have stated, signing up for Fastlane is a MUST! It's free:

https://www.dollar.com/Fastlane/Profile/Rules.aspx

It sometimes takes them a couple days to process your application.
There may not be enough time for you to get this done. If you cannot
get your Fastlane application processed, do NOT rent from Dollar LV.
They are woefully understaffed right now and are frantically trying
to hire additional staff.

BTW, the Fastlane process has changed. They drop you at Row "K" and
tell you to 'pick any car', regardless of the size you've rented. My
advice is to rent a compact...good chance you'll score a fullsize at
no additional charge. They are planning on changing over to a system
where every renter is assigned a specific vehicle in a specific
space, but they are having problems working out the bugs in this
system.
