No one has objected to my somewhat rambling style,
.......yet.
Part of the following post is off topic, I play BJ
as well as VP. My wife is almost a 100% non-gambler,
she plays a little slots is all. The Mirage has a
progressive at the Baccarat Bar which sometimes goes
positive. Also, one bank of I believe $1 8/5 Bonus
progressive which on one trip teached over $6500.
Surely that is positive! I have played both some, $1
VP used to be above my comfort level, but I have had a
good year, now it is my game of choice. On this last
trip, my wife was allowing me to sneak out of the room
early in the morning and trying not to awake her. I
would walk across the street and play some fairly
serious BJ for an hour or so. They have a pretty good
double deck pit, good penetration etc. if anyone is
interested. I was trying to score a comp to Mystere.
One of the books I have bought is Comp City. I hustle
comps unabashedly and I highly recommend that book
btw. I don't have the cajones (is it ok to use that
word on this site? We are all adults here, right?) to
spill my drink on purpose once a day to slow down the
game as the author recommends but I have learned a lot
from that book. I rarely tip dealers, for example, but
I do give small gifts to pit critters hoping they will
take good care of me in the "rating" game. Some
boothling told me their points etc. carry over trip to
trip etc. I have found that many slot clubs boothlings
are not that well paid or well informed. She was
mistaken, I found out that only applies to slots and
VP. I talked to one of their hosts and was surprised
to find out that table comps expire trip to trip. I
was on a 10 day trip with my wife, toward the end I
inquired and was told I had only $90 of comp credits,
needed almost $200 for two Mystere tickets. I
confirmed that they would expire unless I used them
for something. At my request, the host called their
upscale Italian restaurant I had heard about, called
Onda's btw. made a reservation for that evening and
told them to comp the meal up to $90. It was an
elegant place, my wife loved it, I liked the great
potatoes and veggies accompanying our entrees the
best, the check was $95, the waiter said it was all
comped so I left a generous cash tip. I also scored a
VIP comp at the Stardust that trip to see Andrew Dice
Clay. I was offered front row seats, but had the good
sense ( and experience) to turn that deal down. My
wife had seen him on HBO a time or two, thought she
didn't like him. He uses the most profane language
imanagible, most of it unnecessarily. But I warned my
wife, she went to that show open minded, was able to
transcend his filthy language and laughed so hard I
thought she hurt herself!!
I realize he is not
everyone's cup of tea, but if anyone is interested, I
will post a short PG opinion of his show.
