Want to be in Vegas with a nice view of the fireworks - Alize on top of Palms
has a $300 dinner which should be a fantastic view.
Another place to watch for free is from the top of the parking garage at
places like Orleans, Gold Coast, Rio, Palms.

--------
I've now eaten several times at buffet at Bellagio and the one at Paris. To
me Bellagio is definitely better. To avoid the long line at either place, go
to the slot club, present your slot card, and ask for a line pass. If you
have never had a Bellagio card I believe you can still get a good deal for "new
signups" which is about 2000 points and gives you a buffet for 2 people (lunch
or dinner). The Bellagio has lunch and breakfast buffets as well.
--------
A good deal for locals is the LV Hilton card with a sticker. You can get the
buffet for 1/2 price I believe. This is a very good price. The buffet is
small but has quality items like very good prime rib, oysters, peeled shrimp.
Deserts also includ baclava - unless they run out of it, as they did when we
were there.
Note the LV Hilton is being sold, so the Park Place card and the sticker may
soon no longer be good there.
Apparently those with non-local addresses have been getting better mailings
for similar play than locals.
Pick Em is availabe in the ST bar. A variety of not-too-bad paytables can be
found in the quarter machines near the sports book. Watch the progressives
for opportunities where they may become positive.

Today's paper announced construction of a GIANT FERRIS WHEEL at the Rio. The
pictures made it look taller than the Rio. Price will be $18 for a ride when
it is finished in 2005. I believe the "pods" will hold 20 people and have a
bar and bathroom. Presumably each will also have a bartender and overpriced
drinks.
-----------
The Star Trek Experience at the LV Hilton is scheduled to open a new Borg
Adventure in addition to the older ride in March 2004.
---------
A decrease in the number of FP Deuces machines is causing people to learn
more NSU. NSU and double points make the Coast Casinos slightly positive in Dec.
Coast keeps saying that all its casinos will have a combined slot card, but
months keep passing and the card still is not ready. Coasts have been
sending more offers lately to out of towners - possibly due to the winter, possibly
due to decreased number of players. A lot of Gold Coast players are now in
the Palms.
-----------
We saw "The Fab Four" at LVHilton. They were more like the mediocre four in
my book, but still enjoyable. They will play with an Elvis impersonator on
New Year's weekend.
---------
Great food in Vegas: Alize at the top of the Palms. If you have a group of
6 or more they may be willing to put your tip on the bill as "automatic" and
thus you can pay it all with points. Great view too. Meal probably will run
2-3 hours of "dining."
---------
Slot club point warning - at some places your points may not show up unless
you put your card in and out a few times. This is definitely true at Harrahs
and Rio. Make sure you put your card in and out 4 times before you leave to
make sure your points register -- otherwise they may go away.
It probably pays to keep careful notes of your points when you sit down and
when you leave and double check that points are accumulating properly. If they
are not, be sure to ask for an attendant before you leave the machine. I've
had occasional "computer" problems at different casinos, so this is a warning
for every casino.
Rio/Harrahs warning - sometimes if you ask for a comp they may not pull up
all your play from other properties. This is most likely to happen at the Rio.
If you know you have more comp credits, pester the slot club or host to
continue to explore their computer in search of your play from Harrahs. They
should eventually find it.
Rio/Harrahs ploy -- if you play there somewhat heavily, use up all your
points by buying something with points. Then ask your host for a comp. With zero
points they may now be able to issue a discretionary comp. For December there
is a special book of gifts which you can use to order gifts.
------------------
Palms warning - some people (like me) continue to get no email from the
Palms. They have been investigating this, but can't figure out why. Meanwhile if
we don't get notice, we miss the "email" free play day. Continue to complain,
and ask at the slot club desk at the beginning of the month for a list of
"email" days.
