Using the New Coast Card

I, too, want to verify that I was charged tax on the seafood buffet tonight
at the Gold Coast.

The main focus of this post is to alert any of you playing primarily at one
Coast property that there may be a problem accessing your points when visiting
another property.

In my case, my main property is the Orleans although over the last 2 years I
have had sparse play at the Suncoast, Barbary Coast and a bit more at the Gold
Coast.

Last Monday, I wanted to test the system...I inserted my red Coast card at
the Gold Coast. The reader showed zero (0) points. As instructed by the slot
booth, I then played 5 - 6 hands until I earned a few points, pulled my card,
waited a few minutes and reinserted. Then, the "system" recognized me and the
reader showed 95,000 points approximately .....this was my net balance mainly
from the Orleans.

I researched this because I was planning on treating two others to the
Seafood Buffet on Thursday and didn't want to be embarrassed by any complication.

So this early evening (Thursday), I come in to the Gold Coast and insert my
card. It reads zero (0) points again. The slot booth mentions, I have to be
recognized each time for my Orleans points to come up. I then play 5 - 6 hands
as before and sure enough my points are now recognized.

I go to the Buffet and have no trouble paying for the meal(s) using my
points. This means, however, I have to pre-qualify at any visited property for them
to recognize my points (mainly from the Orleans). I used to be a reasonable
player at all three places (Orleans, Suncoast and Gold Coast) I presume that
I would not have to worry about this "qualifying" but perhaps they designate
you to only one place???

Anyone else know or can shed some light on this quirk? The buffet and slot
booth(s) mentioned people were upset when using the universal red Coast card
that the cashier kept saying they had no points showing. Hope this info helps!

You may not have to "pre-play" for your points to be recognized at the
eating establishment. I have not tried this at the Coast properties but...

At the two Charlies properties you have to go through the same routine of
putting a point on your card at the "other" property for your points to come
up on the card reader. But you do not have to "pre-play" for the eating
establishments to know about your points. I have been able to walk right
into a restaurant at the "other" Charlies and they have had no problems
taking the appropriate points off my card.
