Anyone can speak to a host. You don't have to have an assigned host or be
Diamond or 7* at Harrah's either. If you have a question - just call the
property and ask to speak to a slot host, or table host if tables are your game.
Even if you have an assigned host, you can also speak to any host. I've got
a couple of bad Harrah's hosts so sometimes now I just avoid them and speak to
other hosts.
Theoretically hosts should be able to answer all your questions or find out
the answers. Some hosts are not that great about returning calls however, so
if you don't hear back promptly, try phoning again or asking for another
host.
If you get offers, you can still phone hosts to book for you instead of the
standard marketing. I've found if I want (and deserve) RFB (comped room,
food, beverage upfront) I HAVE to call the host first. If I book through
marketing and later talk to the host, the host sometimes can't go in and change the
reservation. When speaking to a host to book your offer, ask if you might
qualify for RFB, and if so, is it limited-RFB (coffee shops and buffet) or
full RFB.
Harrahs and other properties now seem to have many levels of RFB. At
Harrah's recently I found out they grade RFB as A to G or H or even higher.
Depending on your level, you may be able to get some, but not all gourmet rooms
comped. And some shows but not all. At Harrah's they will take ALL your
accumulated comps first, then if you are pre-booked at RFB, they will comp the
rest. RFB at any Harrahs Vegas property generally means you can also charge at
other Harrahs properties - depending on your level of RFB. They will give you
a booklet now, that shows where you can charge (ask for it if check-in
doesn't give it to you). As you go, check your in-room charge account to see if
charges are being picked up automatically - they should be if you are at RFB.
If not, contact the VIP check in desk or host to make sure this is done.
If you have questions as to exactly what is going to be picked up, ask the
host. I've found this can be tricky - so I call the host to check on anything
I'm not sure of -- for example the exact amount of booze I can charge to the
room and comps for the ultra-gourmet restaurants such as Eiffel Tower or Guy
Savoy etc. Similarly, some shows are easy Harrah's comps, such as George
Wallace, but others may not be as easy to get comped like Penn & Teller or The
Producers. The Producers did have a lot of extra empty seats when I saw it
though, so you could try asking a host about it closer to show time and say
you've heard there are a lot of empty seats - can they comp you for tonights
performance.
