I've found a new way to use Harrah's accumulated comps. Get a gift
certificate from the Spa.
I'm now being booked into Paris as RFB, which means if my comp account is
Zero, they will still comp the food. If I have comp credits, they will use
those first to pay the food. So my method is this: I play heavily before
checking in and after checking in on the first day, but before eating. Then I
use up any accumulated credits somehow (or most of them) before eating. After
checking in, I charge all meals to the room, and they are comped, even though
my comp balance is near zero. Then I try not to play too much while staying
there. Once I check out on the final day, I could again play to accumulate
more points.
I've been using the credits to buy airfare ($300 comp value) or something
from the catalog. I even went to the gift shop and swiped to buy some candy
and things.
This time I checked the spa and found I could buy gift certificates, good
for a year. So at Harrahs Vegas I was able to swipe at the spa and use up most
of my accumulated credits. I could have also gone to Paris spa and gotten
certificates there.
On top of this - because I'm 7 Stars - there is a 25% discount at the spa!
I was able to buy the certificates for 25% left -- so $300 worth of comps got
me $400 worth of spa certificates - which in fact could be made in any
amount I wanted. So now I have certificates I can use for future visits (easy
since I live in Vegas), or give as gifts to visitors, or even give as gifts to
hosts. They can be used for haircuts, manicures, spa treatments, or even for
product from the spa.
I believe Diamond and 7 Star members get a discount at gift shops and spas
at Harrah's properties in general - so this is something to always ask about if
you are buying stuff.
