bl, this function will give you the probability of catching a certain number of picks:
=HYPGEOMDIST(Caught,20,Picked,80)
You replace “Caught” and “Picked” in that function with the actual numbers you are interested in. For example, if you want to know the chance of catching 10 when you pick 15, you’d use:
=HYPGEOMDIST(10,20,15,80)
Better yet, you can give two other cells the names “Caught” and “Picked”, and then enter the numbers of interest into those cells. Then =HYPGEOMDIST(Caught,20,Picked,80) will update every time you change the values in the ‘Caught’ and ‘Picked’ cells.
I got that function from this link:

I think I have a file where I do the Keno calculations. Email me at greeklandjohnny AT aol DOT com and I’ll send it to you. I haven’t looked at it in quite a while but it should do the trick. I was interested back then to see just how bad live keno was. The short answer is, pretty bad. Unless you have a monster progressive or promotion going on, it’s at least a 20% hit.
Thank you.

I used to have a program that would calculate any numbers for keno, including large jackpots. The name
Tom Ski comes to mind, but I’m not sure about who. Geeze, I gotta shake out the cob webs in head.
I’ll look for my CD. Maybe I can can find it. If iI do I’ll let U know.
Thanks, jeeps. No problem. You don’t have to look. Excel worked just fine for what I wanted.
Again, kudos to Dunbar for his (always) good words and worthwhile advice, not to mention his fine ROR software.

Just went through a bunch of old info. Blackjack Secrets , Stanford Wong,1993. Lenny Frome, Expert Video Poker, AC. © 1989. As I heard many times in past, “Where the Hell Did the Time Go?” I have played VP since late 80s. Believe it Not, Si Redd first made VP games with black & white tv monitors in game. They were called Draw 80. They appeared in many local bars & restaurants in late 80s.
Run across an interesting article on Ken Uston in Atlantic City magazine. Ken pictured on cover. Spent some time leafing through old magazines Casino Journal & Casino Player.
I was thinking Lenny Frome may have made the keno pay %s. As I remember it was 1/2 page of info.
I just can’t recall where I got it from. I don’t think Lenny did one? Geeze, I might have gotten my Keno calculations from Dunbar. He always has helpful info.
Cheers…Jeep
Thanks for the kind words, bl and Jeeps. Much appreciated!

wizardofodds.com has a keno analyzer, igt megakeno can be good, igt machine keno can be good, some casinos feature loose keno and loose keno progressives, the bounce back is usually the best since most people think keno is the worst game in the casino when in reality it can be the best but you have to know what to look for, Mickey Crimm has written all about various keno machines, there are a lot of different variations on the keno theme
