How could you hit that many jackpots, and leave without profit?

A royal, a quad with kicker and 4 SF's??? Luck was definitely with
you, why didn't you take the money home?

Well, thanks, I know the theory too.
I am more a singer than a dancer, that's for sure.
I played 47 hours, conservatively 500 hands per hour and only 76 hands that
are Quads or better? I'll compare to the charts in the books, I played Mostly
DDB, plus I'll compare to my previous trips when I brought Home the bacon
and felt "lucky" and see what I determine. I think I was unlucky.

I was never up more than 900, and I played 95% quarters and dollars, so
maybe I'll stay at quarters after I hit a Royal Next trip.

cheers...

I just hate to see someone hit that many nice winners and still not
take home the money. It DOES matter if you profit today.

But hey, if you play just to play, that is your choice, not a flame
here. I certainly know how it is coming in to town to play, you
definitely want to enjoy yourself while you are there.

Best regards.

Heh, heh. Very cleverly put. I like that.

Cheers.

Not taking it as a flame: quite theopposite- nice to get attention.
I'm a bit eccentric in that I keep track of my quads or better ($60 & up) hands
(and include the stats in my report!).
It might SEEM that I hit a lot, but I saw over 23,000 hands in four days, so only
76 quads or better is not really a LOT. I had nearly $100,000 coin-in. This is
NOT a source of pride- because I came home with no money.

And I don't play just to play and I don't think of the long term and shrug off a
loss. I play to win, otherwise I'm not having a good time. I feel I need to have
the discipline to ratchet down in denom after a big Jackpot. Unlike one
money management scheme which says pick-up and leave town, I only fly-in
for 4 days every other month or so, so I am working a scheme that will keep
me interested and plus money when I start up my next session after pocketing
a jackpot or mini-jackpot. I think the only luck one needs is to get ONE more
than the average number of 400-1 or 800-1 jackpots in a session. Then have
the smarts to hang onto that profit.

On vpFree-reno I got some good advice about the huge variance of DDB
compared to 10/7 DB. I may give DB some practice, but I've always disliked
the complex strategy. Anyhow, I'm still scheming. Like most folks, I pull a
nugget here and there from reading vpFree, so it is nice to read other's trip
reports and civil arguments - that's the gravy!

thanks for the attention

Mark,

23,000/75 = 306 hands/quad. This is actually ABOVE expected value of
around 400 hands/quad. I haven't been following this thread very
closely so I expect you were either playing 9/6 or worse and losing
big between quads or you hit your "big" quads on lower denoms. The
old "luck" factor.

I've been dealing with the "luck" factor myself lately. I just can't
seem to hit deuces playing deuces, but then I move to FPJP, OEJs or a
JOB progressive and I hit 4 deuces. #&*((&%$#

This is exactly why the IRS does not expect you to win gambling at casinos.
The house has the edge and the IRS EXPECTS that a gambler is going to lose
more than he wins. A simple log, documenting your play is all you need in
case of an audit.
