Mark,
23,000/75 = 306 hands/quad. This is actually ABOVE expected value of
around 400 hands/quad. I haven't been following this thread very
closely so I expect you were either playing 9/6 or worse and losing
big between quads or you hit your "big" quads on lower denoms. The
old "luck" factor.
I've been dealing with the "luck" factor myself lately. I just can't
seem to hit deuces playing deuces, but then I move to FPJP, OEJs or a
JOB progressive and I hit 4 deuces. #&*((&%$#

Not taking it as a flame: quite theopposite- nice to get attention.
I'm a bit eccentric in that I keep track of my quads or better
($60 & up) hands
(and include the stats in my report!).
It might SEEM that I hit a lot, but I saw over 23,000 hands in four
days, so only
76 quads or better is not really a LOT. I had nearly $100,000 coin-
in. This is
NOT a source of pride- because I came home with no money.
And I don't play just to play and I don't think of the long term
and shrug off a
loss. I play to win, otherwise I'm not having a good time. I feel
I need to have
the discipline to ratchet down in denom after a big Jackpot.
Unlike one
money management scheme which says pick-up and leave town, I only
fly-in
for 4 days every other month or so, so I am working a scheme that
will keep
me interested and plus money when I start up my next session after
pocketing
a jackpot or mini-jackpot. I think the only luck one needs is to
get ONE more
than the average number of 400-1 or 800-1 jackpots in a session.
Then have
the smarts to hang onto that profit.
On vpFree-reno I got some good advice about the huge variance of
DDB
compared to 10/7 DB. I may give DB some practice, but I've always
disliked
the complex strategy. Anyhow, I'm still scheming. Like most folks,
I pull a
nugget here and there from reading vpFree, so it is nice to read
other's trip
reports and civil arguments - that's the gravy!
thanks for the attention
