You're saying that Yahoo has a specific prohibition against a private
group that charges a membership fee from using a "closed" (to general
participation) Yahoo! Groups forum for communication/discussion?

More or less. As I understand their TOS, you can't charge
a fee for the privilege of accessing a Yahoo Group.

See TOS #11 - NO RESALE OF SERVICE

(this is not intended to reference any specific current or former
group; just asked in the interest of specific understanding -- there
are many such groups at present)

I'm aware of some, and I've also heard of groups that have
been terminated by Yahoo for charging fees.
