Updates and Correction on the Peppermill

A while back there was a discussion as to whether the oldest comps
were used first (FIFO) or if the most recently earned comps were used
first (LIFO) at the Peppermill. Well once upon a time a boothling had
told me they were LIFO. Given that I had never been denied a comp
there for anything I wanted I took them for their word and did not
worry about it.

Well recently I was surprised to learn I was wrong. While checking
out at the Peppermill I was told I had no comps. I asked the lady in
VIP how that was possible when at my last trip I had been told I had
plenty of comps and now I couldn't even get $5 from the gift shop
comped off, especially when we had given them significant play over
the weekend. She could not offer an explanation. Our host was not
there at the time, but another host went ahead and comped the $5
charge and I went on my way deciding to speak with our host when he
was back in the office.

When I spoke with our host, we were told over $500 in comps had fallen
of a couple of weeks prior. I asked how that was possible? He went
on to explain that comps are in the system for a year and that they do
indeed use the most recently earned comps first. In addition the
grand and Imperial suites on the weekend take out $129-$179 a night (I
think that was the rate given) even if in on an offer. I had known
rooms came off of comps but I assumed the upgrades with a Platinum
card did not cost extra and I assumed they were coming off of a
reduced rate.

So my apologies to whoever reported the comps as being used LIFO, as
they were correct.

Now for strategizing comp usage, if you keep good records you can make
sure you use the comps before they expire. They seem to pretty
consistently earn at .5% for the VP we play. Slots are definitely
more generous. If you've given heavy play make sure within a year of
that trip you spend away. They have an excellent boutique if you need
help spending the comps. Hosts will let you go a bit into the
negative for comps if you have a strong history of them, so don't
forget to use those comps or lose them.

Hope this is of help. . .

Oops, my bad. It should read, "Well once upon a time a boothling had
told me they were FIFO."
