Update to Caesars and their $100 FPDW

I will never set foot in Caesars again. I had about $4,100 in cash
built up on my Emperors Club card. The literature and club rules said
it would never go away. So, I left it there just in case I was ever
robbed, lost my money.........whatever. When Harrah's bought out
Caesars they terminated the Emperors Club without sending out letters
to members. I received lots of offers and tournament notices, but
none to the effect that if I didn't cash out my accumulated points, I
would lose the cash value. When I confronted a slot host he not only
told me that the data had been destroyed, but because I had no record
of play, I could pay the rack rate. This was after a conservative 30+
trips to Caesars LV. Their machines do nothing but take your money
and return little to nothing. Playing on the strip, with the
exception of The Silverton is a total waste of time and money.

The only way to win money as far as I am concerned is playing Limit
Texas Holdem. Yes, you have to sit there for many hours and play
selective hands. Doing that reap big rewards. I am through with
machines all together.

I have lived in Las Vegas for over a year, and I have not been to the
strip since June 2006. Most locals feel the same way as I am
constantly asking about their playing habits while playing poker.

I'm ENTIRELY empathetic. But am I mistaken in my impression that
there was a 12-mo or 18-mo limitation on cash balances under the
former Caesars system, after which they would lapse? (I may well be.)

I'm very sorry that you lost your cash back. It always pays
to stay on top of changes to slot club policies. Be
especially wary when a property changes ownership. I always
empty out my slot club account of cash and comps as best I can
when a takeover/buyout is pending.

The opportunities for profit on the Strip are definitely
declining sharply. What there is is usually based on
mailers with bounceback cash/freeplay offers.

The Strip did present a great opportunity recently and I
even managed to profit handsomely. But alas... it was short
term and has now ended. I would give more details but
I am hoping that it may re-appear next year.

It is definitely good to know poker if you intend to gamble for
a living. I use it as a 'filler' when machine and other
opportunities are poor.

I still play on the strip when the opportunities are there.
Also, decent stakes limit poker only exists at Bellagio,
Venetian and Mirage.

Good luck in your poker.... may the flop come your way!
