If they've been banned, they can't use their RCs anyway.

This is not true. You can purchase things with your RCs. You do not need
to spend them on rooms or food.

Also, there are different levels of being banned. You can be trespassed
(which means, loosely, you can't step foot on the property again without
risking being arrested), you can be told not to play certain games, or
you can be allowed to play certain games with restrictions. One type of
a restriction for a video poker player would be that you no longer
receive any slot club benefits, or possibly only receive half the slot
club benefits as everyone else. With these types of restrictions,
players voluntarily stay away although technically they have not been
completely 86'd.

It is not the casino that bans players, it is the specific executives at
that casino. When these managers move on to other jobs or sometimes just
change their minds, sometimes casinos reverse earlier decisions. Banning
Brodie from WSOP due to his success at video poker makes little sense to
me. I've had absolutely no conversations about this with any Harrah's
employees, but it wouldn't surprise me if he is allowed to play in the
WSOP next year or the year after.
