Update on comped rooms at Barrack properties

If you've been waiting to receive the Winter Getaway offers at the
Plaza, Las Vegas Club, and/or Gold Spike, don't hold your breath.
Unless they change their marketing strategy, there are no plans to
continue the offers under the new owners. At the Plaza you can still
try to obtain a room thru a host (1-800-634-6575 X2425) Also, the
Gold Cards for a free night at the Gold Spike are no longer accepted.

I had reservations through a host for last Saturday
and Sunday night at the Plaza, with a late check-in on
Saturday. Got there around 10 pm and was told that
they were completely sold out and no rooms available.
I play table games and told them my host's name, they
contacted him but could do nothing becasue no rooms
were available. Finally gave us a "parlor room", which
is half of a suite. They said that it doesn't matter
if you reserve room with credit card, it's first come
first serve and once they're booked up it's too bad
that you have a late plane arrival, you lose out.

Hmmm.......I wonder when they will buy the El Cortez, and it too,
will come under their evil spell? I guess we need to pray for Jackie
Gaughan's continued longevity, as I suspect that's why the EC
didn't get sold with the rest of the oackage. The EC has already
seriously cut down on meal freebies with the abolishment of the
monthly postcards. What is next?
I did notice that I no longer receive coupons from the Plaza. I
attributed it to fact that I never gave them more than a few hours
of play during any 4 day visit. I've never stayed at the Plaza, and
I like to give my action to the nice folks who are comping me. I
guess that everybody is receiving the same treatment though. Is
anybody still receiving monthly mailings?
Babe

After being assured by everyone from the Head Boothling to Reservation
Agents to a Host that there would be no Winter Getaway offer, guess
what just arrived in the mail? It's 3 free nights, Nov thru Feb.
It's hard for me to get excited over it, though. There are no coupons
enclosed for 3 X points or dining as in the pre-Barrick days. You get
3 nights in a pretty dumpy room so you can go downstairs and try to
get on the one remaining fast FPDW or the 2 slow coin-only bartops for
.2% CB.
