Update # 2 for Aspiration trip fiasco

Hello Darryl,

It is confusing. We now have the correct ticketing.

You – “Didn’t you check the itinerary before it
was ticketed, or notice the incorrect return when you received the ticketing
email?”

My response = I never saw any itinerary before
it was ticketed. I immediately contacted
Hiroko Saito, Isaiah Price and/or Diabel Samb via email and/or phone.

23-Jan-17 Locator:PTYKWW Total Amount 638.80

This
flight was from Chicago and wrong departure date
Form of Payment:

Jan 24, 2017

This is
the correct itinerary

January 26, 2017 confirmation is AJPYLQ No cost was listed This
ticketed was done by Maria Aranda (I do not know this person) This is the correct itinerary. Tickets have been canceled per
American Airlines website.

January 26, 2017 (today)
Record locator: PTYKWW Total
(all passengers) $638.80

This is the correct itinerary There is no form of payment listed. Priced has decreased from 1,634.88 to $638.80

Passport Travel contacted us yesterday via
voice mail. We called but had to leave a
message saying the itinerary was correct and if she had any questions please
call.

Isaiah Price and Diabel Samb have contacted us
several times, the latest being yesterday, to make sure the itinerary was
correct.

As you can see the cost changes and who paid is
confusing. I will take your advice and
contact Diabel Samb who is our official host.
He is very new at this.

Again I appreciate your efforts and
advice.

Donald

Interesting. For my Aspirations and 7* itineraries, my host has always presented me with a tentative itinerary (even in cases where I specified the exact flights I wanted) and required me to reply to approve it in writing before it gets ticketed.

I too have had the annoyance of the fare going up by $100 or more while waiting for Passport/Carlson to set everything up, so I sympathize :frowning:

Sounds like “front running”. Basically if you know ahead of time what someone wants to buy, you buy it first (running ahead of them in the queue), then resell it to them at a higher price and pocket the difference.

That's more of a phenoemon in the stock market I think. When I say the fare increased over the course of a few days, that includes tracking the price on Google Flights.

It depends on the host you are booking through whether they follow they rules of getting you to check and confirm before they finalize the tickets. We have “usually” have the chance to check them, but about 20% of the time we don’t. One of our hosts is able to actually book them directly without going through that horribly run mess “Passport Travel”. In those cases we get the right price and flights within hours of the request. When I have our Las Vegas Host book though, he sends the request (always exactly the flight numbers we want), it goes through the “let them sit in a pile for a week or two” travel agency. We’ve had flight costs go up as much as $500 a person waiting for them to book them.

I just give my host the airline, flights & times & he books those for both Diamond Aspirations & 7* trip
