Unsuited Aces in 9/6 JOB

This is a math answer but perhaps another angle.

Holding three high cards means the best outcome would be a straight which itself is tougher to get by holding the Ace since it decreases the number of ways that you can get the straight.

You have eliminated any chance of getting four of a kind or a full house both of which are generous payouts.

Basically, by holding the Ace you are just hoping to get your money back.

Remember, also that getting a high pair and an Ace as a final outcome does not pay any more than a high pair and you have decreased your chances of improving the high pair. Whereas in poker holding the Ace might be helpful in the end. Your opposition is the machine and it pays strictly by the paytable.

I know the math says to discard an unsuited ace when you hold 2 other picture cards but can anyone give me the logic behind it (other than the math). The wife asked me and I cannot give a clear explanationChet K__________________________________________________Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo!
