UNEDUCATED EMPLOYEES TRYING TO MAKE YOU FEEL DUMB???

Has this ever happened to anyone? I would enjoy reading your
experiences. Last night I was playing at the Ramada and the machine
had a coin jam. Alas a fireman came over (guy who is above the floor
tech that works on machines verifies hoppers are working properly
etc). Anyway we begin talking about the new machines and I was telling
him if they lose the 10/7/5/DB I wouldnt play anymore. He then asked
me why. So I explained the payscales are relative to the overall
payback of the poker machine blah blah blah… (Okay ready for this)
His response was he told me what I just told him made no sense. He
stated ALL machines are set at 96 percent payback. I said oh really.
He said yes and went on to tell me they have a part called a PAR in
the machine that tells the machine when to payoff. I asked him well
you are saying soe poker machines will hit more 4 of a kinds then
others at times and that you can tell a machine when to hit. His
answer YES!!! I was not trying to be rude but I laughed and said to
please explain if the deck is 1 52 card deck and the odds of 4 of a
kind are 1-400 and I went throught the other numbers then how could
you play with something called math??? I think he was lost from here
and frusturated. After this conversation the machine jambed again and
he came over and started saying I was playing to damn fast and that
was causing the machine to jamb. I asked him well you stood behind me
when I played the rack off and you didnt say anyting to me then??? I
told him to relax and take a break. I was amused… I just felt
though this guy is spreading this fictitious story to others… Share
your stories please.

These guys are hired because they have mastered which way to turn a
screwdriver to loosen and tighten a screw-not their math skills, or
even computer skills. I have not heard of a "PAR", but maybe he meant
EPROM, RAM, or PROMS ??? My guess is he was confusing a slot machine
and your VP game that you were playing, or maybe he does not know the
difference.?? Due to his higher mechanic status, he is familiar with
a screen that gives out how much each machine has returned. It would
not surprise me that a FP game would return about 96% due to poor and
short play by many players. I have run into to these type of workers,
and it always amazes me the lack of knowledge. Like BS mentioned, it
is best just to act dumb. You have nothing to gain by trying to
educate the uneducated.

BS also mentioned bartenders. Some of these people are also ignorant
about VP. I sometimes will hear some customer call a bartender over
to get expert advise on which cards to hold. Their advise is always
the same- "Go for the royal". The reason is that they are in line for
a big tip if by some long shot chance they hit it. They will never
get a big tip for holding that pat straight flush.

Bronxboy you conjured up some recent memories, but good ones. I was playing 25¢ 9/6
JOB at the bar by the breezeway at the CB. I was dealt a flush, but it was also four to a
straight flush. The bartender and I had been talking off and on before that, so I asked
him what his choice would be. He answered the question with a question....Did you come
here to gamble? I said "yes" so he said "You answered your own question". So I went for
the straight flush and got it. I think maybe I tipped him $10 'cause he was very friendly.

I was playing $1 KBJW and was dealt a pat joker royal. I held it and the
machine started, then stopped, dropping 500 coins.

The guy that came over to do the hopper fill looked at the screen and said
"It dealt it to you?"

"Uh, yeah, I guess..."

"If I got a dealt one and was playing quarters, I would go for the real
royal, but for dollars, I wouldn't."

"Uh, OK..."
