Say the average player runs through 50 hands. Assuming my quick read
of the rules is accurlate, initially, there's 3 machines in play every
day of the month, but they reserve the right to accomodate demand by
switching over to a bank of 10. Play is available for 12 hours each
day (10 on Sundays). The promotion runs 28 days.

I'll allow for an average of 4 machines in play at a time, and 15
sessions an hour. (You can adjust as you see fit) and an hour out of
commission each day for each machine. 50x(11x4x15)x28. That's a total
of 924K hands. Assuming that players go reasonably hard for a RF in
general out of human nature, I'll call the RF cycle at 35K hands. No
matter how you adjust these numbers, it's a no brainer that all the
finishers will have hit a RF.

Harry,

It looks like you got a good upper limit to the number of hands that might be
played, but it appears there won't be much of a demand for the tourney
machines with the qualifying play needed to earn a shot...$10k.

500 points @ $20 coin-in is $10k in action to earn an entry. Just how many
players are going to earn even one entry during the promo period? 10%?

How many total entries are going to be generated during the promo period? I
think a 3 minute/50 hand session is about right.

But the original Terry/Pappy posts suggested a culmulative score format:

" I should have added that there is a pool of money ($40,000) set
aside for the player and players who accumulate the most credits
playing those special machines in April. $10,000 going to the winner
and the rest going to the other players. The more times you play the
machines, obviously, the more credits you build up."

So that still is my first inquiry, is it culmulative for the 28 days in the
promo or is it just one session scores?

Yep, I've cited a high number of sessions (should give you a clue that
I gave this no more than a 10-15 min "look-see"). I've allowed for
18K+ sessions over the month ... about 600 a day on average.

No doubt, a very liberal estimate. So, the question is, how many
sessions would warrant an aggressive RF strategy. I'd go with one
that would produce 6+ expected RF's.

Allowing for a 35K RF cycle (again, assumes aggressive RF target play
-- which I expect to be average mentality be default), and 50
hands/session, that takes 4200 sessions, or 150 per day on average.

Is $42MM coin-in by modestly active players during the month an
excessive play assumption? Could well be, but I'm not really familar
with the casino.

I know as weekend $ players, my wife and I are often induced to put in
$250K+ in a month during a strong promo. But with the "purse" limited
to $25K, this one isn't likely to push anyone to score extra entries.

At any rate, you make your own call. If you only expect something
like 2800 sessions, it's time to seriously consider a strategy that
would push harder on smaller hands -- one that would more closely
approximate standard Jacks strategy given the nature of it's basic
game strategy.

The rules are unambiguous that each session stands alone (although
only a player's highest session counts, i.e. only one prize per person).
