Sorry for that last one folks- operator error or Yahoo Mail error, I'll never know. But, yeah, I know- probably the former.
I think people are falling into the trap of "things were better when....", when the reality is that things change and what is now the norm you can't really compare to what it was 5 or 10 years ago. That is how things were then and this is how they are now. Like comparing Babe Ruth or Joe DiMaggio to Hank Aaron or Barry Bonds- different eras simply aren't easily compared. Do I still go to Main Street Station to play the 10/7DB- yes, but rather than listen to the train and have to go to the Cal for breakfast (or have limited food options, period), I would still rather get a free room at Harrah's- yes, I have to give up EV to do that, but I'll still trying to find the best games there and evaluate the free rooms and some free food and see if it works for me versus what I am spending (loosing) on VP.
Maybe it is time for me to move on to MGM-Mirage, or maybe TI with Ruffin's ownership, but I admit it still bugs me to spend $200 ($79 a night plus taxes, etc) on a room after not paying for one for so long thanks to Harrah's. I think the days of full pay VP are coming to an end, as are decent comps- but, as I mentioned in one forum- on a Labor Day trip Paris LV comped me without using my TR points. I expected a well over $200 bill for food and a movie but it was less than $40 for the tips and I still have 4500+ points. Maybe they are re-thinking how they are treating the low diamond players- but I can't deny that may be wishful thinking. This recession is pretty much unprecedented, so management everywhere has to act a little differently- maybe they are making a mistake cutitng back and they should be giving better comps and paytables- we'll probably never know. We think it would help, but come on, the people on this forum are not the
normal casino customer- what would draw us in is not what would draw in the "ploppie" or normal customer. Only time will tell, but change, like fecal matter, happens.
Climbing down off my soap box now- Thanks for spending the time to read this- Lee.

and the casinos take full advantage of that.
