Whoops!
My internal calculator goofed again. It often does when I'm mentally
converting different denominations and multiples thereof to something
I can more easily understand.
Of course you're right. Playing 20 credits per hand at the dollar
level is equivalent to a $4 game, which has a $16000 royal payout.
I've played those Ganekings occasionally, as well. Normally, I play
two credits, which makes them the equivalent of a $0.40 game ($2
total per hand).
I know it's quite a jump from that level to the multiple line
machines requiring a bet of $7.50 per play to get the full 800 for 1
royal payout at triple play, but it's one that we've been able to
live with. And we do like the multiple lines.
In contrast, when we go to Las Vegas, our mindset is different, and
we play almost exclusively single line $0.25 machines. This has to
do with the fact that if we exhaust our session bankroll at Rama, we
can go home and do something else for a period of time, whereas when
we're in Vegas we're usually there for a defined period, and it's no
fun at all to be out of money.
Interestingly, I had the good fortune to hit 2 royals on the triple
play machines at Rama last May within an hour of each other. They
didn't give me a watch, but perhaps they thought with $4000 in my
pocket, I could buy my own.
