On my extensive stay at the Silverton, Feb. 6th-18th, I managed to hit 2 Progressive dollar Royals at the Shady Groove, both in hearts.
I went down to the bar alone while my other half was still getting dressed. It was the 11th day of the trip and it was around 1 PM.
The night before, we were the only ones playing early in the morning, and we pushed the four 2-3-4's up to an amazing level of $380, which was almost as high as hitting 4 Aces. It's a Bonus Poker game. When I got to the bar I noticed that the four 2-3-4's had been hit, and it was now just over $200. When I started playing, in one of the first few hands, I got dealt an Ace H. When I hit the draw button, the Kh, 10h, Jh and finally the Jd. Boy was that close. In a few minutes, I hit 4 10's, followed a few minutes later by four 2's. Within a few hands of hitting the quads, I got dealt the Ah, Qh, Jh, and 10h. I lowered my head and prayed for the Kh. I hit the draw button, and sure enough, the King of Hearts appeared for the Royal. I sat there staring at the screen watching it alternate from, "JACKPOT CALL ATTENDANT" to JACKPOT $5968. i COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. With all the money I was stuck for this trip, I finally got even or ahead,
Later, around 12:30 am, we were leaving the Mermaid Bar and I had 4 TITO'S to cash in. I deposited the first 3 into the cash redeemer, and thought it said $750. I had one more TITO for what I thought was $300. When I put that one in to add to the others, it still said $750. I thought I had just gotten screwed out of $300. I called over the slot person and they got security and they opened the ATM machine that cashes these things.
They had to pull out a box and bring it over to the cashiers cage for the key to open it. I was feeling no pain at this time, and kept on telling them to check the last four tickets. Since I was in the employees only area of the cage, the slot person told me that I shoould go back to the bar. What a concept! I wasn't going to be one to argue. Meanwhile, my honey had already went upstairs as she didn't want to go through all this nonsense.
So I put in a hundred and started playing again. The jackpot now had been reset, but it was still over $5000. That's one thing nice about the Silverton, and that is unless the jackpot is hit twice, it has a backup jackpot that keeps it above the minimum. I really wasn't going to play long since I thought the problem would be resolved quickly. I didn't even bother to sit down to play.
So I'm playing for a few minutes, and my mind is more on my missing $300 than playing the game. So I wind up getting dealt the Ah, Kh, and really didn't have any thoughts about hitting the Royal. But, when I hit the draw button, the Qh, 10h, Jh filled right in for my second Royal in 12 hours. It was exactly 1:15 am.
Turns out, while I was waiting to be paid, the slot person trying to resolve my problem came up to me and she had found out what happened. Turns out that the first 3 TITO's that I inserted totaled $720, not $750. The last TITO I inserted was for $30 not $300. So the grand total was for $750 not $1050. But it was a GREAT mistake. If I didn't think there was a mistake, I would have never been drawn back to the center bar where I hit the first Royal. If she didn't tell me to go to the bar, I would have stayed with them while they figured out the problem and then gone upstairs. At least the bartender got lucky as she was just about to go off shift when I hit the Royal. I gave her $100, and then called her back to give her 2 more twenties to give to her 2 kids.
Turned out to be a nice trip, as besides the 2 Royals, I had collected 4 W2G's for 4OAK hits in the $5 High Limit Salon.
