I've always used the term "idiot string", which I first heard as applied to the clip systems used to fasten a small child's gloves to their coat, reducing the chance of losing their glove(s).
Never thought of using one of these as "cover" to reduce "heat". In blackjack, I was constantly trying to find ways to look more like the "ordinary" high-roller player, to better disguise my play as a card counter. I worry less about the need for such "cover" in VP, but I think it's well-known that "barrings" have occurred for VP players, and if you're playing enough to worry about this, any "cover" value obtained may be worth the embarrassment of using the bungee!
While I've never experienced identity theft, I've had a credit card number used to order stuff I didn't order (I think by a disgruntled merchant about whom I complained to the authorities), having it sent to me (an interesting choice!) and requiring me to cancel the card and return a bunch of merchandise -- I can only imagine what it would be like to experience one of the more extensive forms of such theft.

Date: Mon Aug 17, 2009 9:56 am ((PDT))No need to pay money for a "device." At most casinos, when you first get a
player's card, they offer you a free "bungee cord" to attach to your card,
and clip to your person. Lots of ploppies use them, and some of the
funniest moments I've had in casinos is seeing someone get up and walk away
from
their machine, only to be yanked back by the bungee cord!As a side note, I think if APs used those bungee cords, no one in the
universe would ever suspect that they know what they are doing! To me, they are
the ultimate "ploppie" accessory!
