I kind of agree with you on this. Most people WOULDN'T win during this promotion anyway. If it only lasts several days, wouldn't that be considered a short-term promo played with long-term rules? I think the only thing that guarantees is a good time.

Someone posted "another good play killed by the pros"
Please note that this ran 4 days, (maybe more), that Tom Sims is a
pro, in that he plays on a regular basis, so am I, so is Nudge, and on
and on.
If the original poster was good enough and had the required bankroll
and tme, he or she would have been there and therefore he or she would
also be considered a pro.
I will grant that there were many pros there on Monday, far fewer as
the week progressed. However, many did NOT win, in spite of the
advantage. My wife and I did NOT win. We played 10/7 mostly.
$1's on Monday and 50c the other days. One machine each, about 5
hours each day.
